I want to know what you guys think of this video format.

I normally do in the car and rear and try to see enough of the road from in the car, but cameras often mess up focusing on the interior. Also, in car, you see the violence of the G forces more.

Seems a little video gamey but I can see where the car placement is on the track much better.

The world's biggest Malibu Grand Prix? Give me the outer loop any day.

...And can we all take a moment of silence to hate Alan Wilson for designing 4 1/2 miles of racetrack without a single bloody passing zone? (Ok, I'm done)

Have a good track day!

For this reason I always long-press and manually set exposure point to the windshield, or else it focuses on the interior and can't see anything out in the windshield haha
Pain in the ass, but I have do it before every session :(

I love the rear-view mirror video on top. It wasn't distracting or confusing to me unlike others who have mentioned in the comments.
I personally prefer the in-car cam as it shows you the steering, your body language, and reaction while driving

What is the passing rule here? Do you need a point-by from the driver in-front? Designated passing zones or pass anywhere?

It was frustrating watching that R8 holding you back..
Love the glorious sound!

Can't you get the camera to hold the spot focus? For sure, getting the light management on the camera to recognize the outside rather than the inside is key. It will always default to the interior light level and completely wash out the track. I just thought there was a function on Go Pros where you can get it to hold the settings? Each camera is probably a little different, but it should be an option in the phone app.
