Thank you for the feedback. I have a line on a Tech packaged car and ready to give up my 70 Mach1. I will likely never track it, but wondering if I would ever possibly have an issue? Just 10-15 minutes playing on a track seems like nothing and I want to have peace of mind the transmission won't get hot playing around on winding road or 80 mph blast down the interstate?

The only reported problems have been on the track. Buy the car.

Mach70, I think you will be fine. The owners having issues with temps are tracking their cars. If you will not track yours and simply use it as it is intended you will be pleased, very pleased with the car.

Thank you all for the info, I think. LOL Now I am fired up to pull the trigger on the new 350 and have to get moving on selling my car.

I will be feeling your pain when parting with your Mach1.

This was my baby couple years ago . :(

2400 miles of pretty hard road use in the country, no temp issues at all with the N-guage showing transmission temps seldom over 220.
That still seems high if the track pack cars don't run much over 160.

I ran most sessions in 3rd and 4th gear, shifting to 4th only on front and back straights. I felt prepared to give the car the best chance to not limp but could not prevent it.

Overall very disappointing from a guy that thought he did all the research to buy a car he could learn how to run on the track and have a lot of fun. Still a great day with some great car guys but would have loved to run the last session, when I was feeling the best, all our for the full 20 minutes. I can't wait for Ford to come out with an OEM solution to make me a happy Ford owner again.

Temps have hit high 80s here, i think one day we hit 91. It will get hotter. its pretty easy to get the temps to 240 and higher just flogging it a bit in 4th and 5th on the freeway. noticeably worse with a passenger, Enough of folks defending the decision, in my eyes the suspicion is now confirmed. don't expect to run hard in summer. I back off before I hit 250 but it doesn't really cool much. nowhere for the heat to go. once the mercury hits 80 the trans is always hotter than the engine. what does extended driving with the part 80 degrees hotter mean? I don't know. I expect the fluid will break down faster. Folks without a Nguage may think its safe off the track but the fluid could be sheered to hell.

* Racing / Track Day Experience ( Judgement Free Zone ) First day on track. Only other experience was the ford racing track attach
* End result..... Limp mode on 2ed session 18 min in. 3ed session limp on the last lap short shifting the straights (also extra 30 min cool down over lunch) 3ed session limp at 15 min, took car down the hwy between sessions in an attempt to cool trans down (outside temp 21C at this point) Last session lasted 10 min.

Honestly considering how cool it was, and that there was 1 hour breaks between sessions I thought it would have done better. I am no pro.

Spent most of the time on the track in 3ed gear.

With this thread just being bumped I realized I hadn't posted here.

* Base, Tech, or Track Pack? Tech pack
* Which Track were you on? Brainerd International Raceway
* Ambient Air Temp? 55 in the morning and 79 as a high
* How long was your session? 6 sessions 25 minutes long
* Trans Temp if available? N/A
* Racing / Track Day Experience ( Judgement Free Zone  ) My second time ever on a road course
* End result..... Even going easy and short shifting with relatively cool ambient temperatures, the car hit limp mode on every session. It's embarrassing when your new car is the only one at the track having temperature issues. There were a couple Mustang GTs there that didn't have any problems. My GT350 sure wasn't more capable of running on a track than a Mustang GT.
