Has anybody else got an email back from Andy Barratt yet? I got one back today to say that he expects my car to be delivered late March/early April, which matches up with the Q1 2016 estimate I got when I ordered the car. It also means that I can put my personalised 16 plate on the car :headbang:

Yep^.

Ordered 25.01.15, emailed Andy on saturday, had reply today stating build date 28.09 with scheduled eta to dealer 12.12.

I mentioned the lack of Recaros for RHD countries but he couldn't tell me why that is.

I doubt it is the man himself actually doing the donkey work and sending the replies but kudos to whoever has actually bothered to give us a little glimmer of hope.

It is him, had a few replies over the weekend from his iPhone. Good on him, he's personally propping up Ford CS.

I also had a reply on the deletions :

The process of bringing Mustang to the UK has indeed required a number of modifications to achieve full homologation.

Due to pedestrian protection regulations, the hood vents (or bonnet scoops) and the tower strut brace are not fitted to European vehicles. For the same pedestrian protection purposes, Mustangs are fitted with an active deployable bonnet which uses sensors in the front bumper to identify any frontal impact with a pedestrian. The bonnet hinges have pyrotechnic charges which pop up the rear of the bonnet by approximately 10cm, increasing the space between the bonnet and the engine block.

European regulations regarding DTRLs (daytime running lights) also require that the lights are visible from a specific side angle to help with visibility at intersections. The position of the US-spec lights, deeply recessed from the front grille do not make them visible from the required side angle. For this reason, the European Mustangs all come with DTRLs in the front fog lamps instead. And as the European homologation restricts the DTRL to one light source per side, the tri-bar lights in the headlamps are disabled for Europe.

I hope all this gives you enough insight into how Mustang has been fine-tuned for Europe.

It seems strange that the incorporating the light in the front fog lights is going to make them more visible from the specific side angle that the gill DTRL's as the fog lights seem to be far more forward facing but I suppose I just don't know what the specific side angle is.

I also got a call today from my dealer about a build date in November and a delivery in January 2016 - somewhat disappointing as I placed my deposit down with the dealer on 24 January 2015 and I see others on the forums with later deposits but earlier build dates.

Someone somewhere on these forums referred to some document requiring that a car ordered from Ford had to be picked up within 3 months of delivery to the dealer. Can anyone help me with where I find that document please ?

I can only imagine that it must be necessary to be able to see both DRLs from a specific side angle then as each tri-bar is much more visible from it's respective side than the fogs, but you wouldn't see both from either side.

The "3 month" thing is in the Price Protection paragraph on page 9 of the price list, a version attached, although its not within three months of delivery to the dealer. It's within three months of order and as soon as its available for collection.

Additionally...

Does this mean we could land ourselves in trouble by fitting the strut brace? I appreciate many do modify their cars by fitting such things but Ford have deliberately omitted the brace due to regulations and we would be effectively breaching them by going aftermarket.

If homologation restricts DRLs to one light source they could have left the tri-bars as side lights. They're an iconic feature and we'd all just have driven with the side lights on, which would have turned off the fog unit DRLs.

I suspect that the homologation /type approval process is just about initial production as opposed to ongoing vehicle ownership. So the manufacturer has to conform with some pretty crazy pedestrian production requirements to get the ok to produce, export and sell the vehicle but thereafter, the customers have greater freedom to change it.

Presumably an MOT testing station might be the people to answer your question as if I am honest, I don't have a clue.

I got an email back today. My car is order number 266 on the waiting list. Estimated date for delivery is March 2016. :headbang:

This means brand-spanking new 16-plates, OR personalised plates. BA55 MUS ("Ben Anderson S550 Mustang") takes my fancy. Better weather for the P-Zero tyres is a bonus, too.

I saw a plate that read "50 VB" - but it was so expensive I'd have to contact the DVLA for a price!

So who will be first to start a North Atlantic weather thread? Shipping forecast anyone?

Still once they're on the ship, what could possibly go wrong?

The Andersons will be picking up their Mustangs around the same time then  I have a deposit down on a 16 plate that reads VE16 HTT, if I didn't get the personalised plate I would be getting a regular THZ **** plate as we don't get 16 plates over here normally. I think that 50 VB plate would probably cost as much as the 'stang

Someone better tell Nissan about the strut brace thing, all 370s come with them as standard, they also have the deployable bonnet as well. In fact it's a full on K Brace.

The tribars could have been left, I'm sure they just make this up! What about the dash gauges?

Anyway, I better e mail Andy for my build number!
