I find it really absurd that Australia and the UK are sold out with owners ringing left right and centre desperate for more information about the rhd, we have these great forums chock full of questions, answers and photos, and the two places that a production rhd show up are South Africa and india! Like what the....?

As far as customer service goes our dealers here in Australia are the same, no info and I've changed sales guys 3 times now. In defence of Ford their Facebook/social team have been pretty good at answering questions for us, and has now been providing updates.

So I know we are all in the same boat here but I like to think of myself as a pretty laid back, patient guy but my experience has just gone from disappointing to downright frustrating.

In an attempt to get some info, I tried a little out of the box thinking and fired an email to the customer relations centre in the US, expressing my disappointment with the communication in the UK. I got a reply back the same day & they politely pointed me in the direction of the UK customer relations centre, adding that I may be able to get an update from them - fair enough.

I want to share with you my email because it's shocking. I will continue with this thread until I get an answer, not because I am desperate for it but out of principle now - others, that supposedly ordered at the same time as me have build dates & I have nothing.

My email:
Hi there,

I’m hoping you can help me. I ordered a Mustang earlier this year from Hartwell Ford in Kidlington. I am after any kind of update in terms of the Mustang in general or my specific order.

There is a general feeling amongst those who have placed an order that the dealerships are poorly informed & cannot provide us with updates. I understand from a friend that ordered a couple of days after me that he has a build date & an estimated delivery date so I am a bit miffed that I cannot get that information from my dealer – his last update was on Monday of this week with “there are no updates”.

This is the reason for my email – to save me harassing my dealer any more, can you shed some light on my order? Or the RHD production in general?

Looking forward to your response.

Many thanks
Kristian

Their response:
Thank you for your reply. I apologise for any confusion. We are delighted to announce that the Mustang is available to order now, and will still be available to order in December. We cannot specify any exact delivery dates at this time but your local FordStore sales advisor will keep you updated with your order. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Un-fucking-believable!
Customer relations do nothing mate, they will ring the deal and ask what they are doing for you only for the delear to explain this ford fault fix it... the dealer will email ordering@ ford.com and get a rubbish bull sh*t response. Ford of America are making so much money in their own country they aren't bothered about other markets and thus give them small numbers of product each month. 56000 mustangs were registered in the U.S. Between jan and June. It's was the same with eco sport when they launched. For a year they had two many orders in local markets that we was bottom of the queue. Dealers get no information only that people that ordered before June should get cars built by the end of February next year. If you really want a response email Andy Barrett he's email address should be on the net he is top dog for the UK.

Apart from owning Ford Cortina and Escorts as a lad and driving a Transit for a living in the 80s, I have had nothing to do with Ford until the RHD Mustang was announced.

Earlier this year was the first time I had ever been in a Ford showroom and I even fancied the latest Focus.

Unfortunately thanks to this fiasco I will take the big V8 but I'll get a proper Mustang specialist to look after it and Ford can forget taking any more money off me.

I agree with you - Ford haven't done much PR & Marketing because they simply don't need to. But for the first (and IMO the most important) customers, there is no excuse not to at the very least keep those people happy.

The "on the list" email was a nice touch but now that we are in RHD production & even our dealers know nothing I find that very poor. It can all change though this month I guess.

I think I will finally join twitter tonight & drop Ford a little note, anyone that fancies doing the same - I will be using #wheresmymustang lol, someone out there must know something!

Count yourself lucky you got a 'on the list' email.

The response I got from ford uk for not getting this email was that dealers now have the it systems to be able to track your oder through from order to delivery (...cough) so they don't need to handle the order confirmation etc side of things anymore

I had a very similar experience yesterday when I asked the Ford Australia "customer relationship centre"(yes...that's what the wankers call themselves) why my car is being delivered three months later than people who ordered three months after me.....the crap they told me, made me, a tribal lifetime blue oval member, promise never buy a new car from these aholes again. They truly, genuinely, don't give a flying fuck about their customers.

Just cancel your order then. Easy fixed.

Just fired this off to my sales contact at the dealer - will let you know if I get anything back.

Afternoon XXXX(no names to protect the innocent!),

I trust that you are well and the summer has been kind to you so far.

I am sure you are gearing up for the 1st September rush so I am sorry to bother you but after my pleasant call from Elliot in June with my order number (L0024) for my Mustang I notice that quite a number of the other chaps are getting VIN numbers, build dates (most are August) and delivery dates (end Oct/early Nov) etc and are able to pick up the ‘window stickers’ for their vehicles on the ETIS system. I know this may seem quite ‘geeky’ but such is the passion of future Mustang owners!

I know that Ford UK have been very poor on dishing out the information to both clients and dealers but as some dealers seem to be getting build information I was wondering if you had any such information available for your Mustang clients?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards,

XXXX

On Order:

I sent a similar email to my dealer a few days ago - reply was unhelpful - in summary he doesn't have this information and Ford won't provide it until the last minute for each car.

Despite the fact that I paid my deposit in 2014, I still don't have a VIN. There are people who ordered after me who seem to have this information so I have no idea what Ford are playing at.

Starting to lose my sense of humour about all of this...

Yep that is what prompted me to email - folk who ordered after me have the info so why don't I and why can't you get it as other dealers can?

That's going to be in my reply to any negative email I get back and then the dreaded phone call! I hate to be that kind of person but I can never understand if some people have the information then why can't we all get it as well? It is obviously out there for those who know where to look or who to call :headbonk:
