Are you sure it's Japanese? Remember the MT-82 Getrag is assembled in China so if it may be something related to that.The tranny does sit right under the center console. Either way good ole' Joel should be able to fix you right up.

Otherwise I suggest taking the car to the dealer and asking them about the problem. It is likely a software/firmware related issue.
