Can anyone recommend a decent oil container to use when doing my oil change at home? Most of the ones from auto parts or box stores wind up leaking while doing the oil change, or shortly there after.

Thanks in advance.

I have this exact style. It’s never leaked in over 15+years of ownership and there’s no guess work needed as to where the oil stream will go:

I have tired this design, but it SUCKS when oil deflects off of it or doesn’t drain down into the tiny hole fast enough:

and this design is like trying to guess where the stream of oil may go and hoping you have it lined up just right for the gush that comes…

Once the oil has drained, I then empty it from the pan into a 5-gallon bucket with lid… once I have close to 5-gal, I then take it to the local Auto Zone and they recycle it (and I reuse my bucket).

Thanks! Where did you get it?

Yeah, no 2&3 have never worked for me and I’m tired of turning a 10-15 job into a 45 minute job because oil got everywhere.

I just buy whatever cheap one I find in the store, never had one leak before.. I have another storage bin I toss it in when I am done with it. I always empty it right away.

Well, it can be purchased online - but I purchased mine years ago at Pep Boys. I’d imagine some of the more current Auto Parts stores have it or similar in stock (O’reillys, Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, NAPA, maybe even WalMart).

This is the site I pulled the image from, but I do not know a thing about the website seller:

There’s similar pans on amazon too - search on “engine oil catch pan” or “engine oil pan”.

Actually found one just like it

Capri Tools CP21021 Portable Oil Drain Pan, Anti-Freeze, Black https://a.co/d/74W2gpq
Yep, there ya go!

This isn’t needed, but I also use a rubber stopper/cover in the drain spout after I’ve emptied it. Something like these that are used for canes or bottoms of furniture. It’s best to get the pan first to know the size needed if wanting to do the same:
