So I've forgotten what the best practice is. Do an oil change before storing the car for the winter, then again after the end of the winter, or is that not required?

Or can I just leave the existing oil in it and change it after the winter

I would not worry about it as long as you do a nice long drive to get moisture out of the gas before leaving her for long period of time.

You absolutely should change it before you store it. I just did mine this past weekend and the car is now put away for the Winter. It also says the same thing in the owners manual.

Amsoil is all I run so so much for that theory. I change my oil once a year in October before storing it. Amsoil tells you on their website you should do the same.

Actually Troy (Unleashedbeast) is someone you should listen to and is a very credible source. But you must have been mistaken in his posts because he'll be the first person to tell you to change the oil before storing it.

Im familiar with him. Phone pulled a lovely auto correct on me. I guess i did misread it. Glad i only did it that way two years. I can go back to the way i used to do it. Oddly enough is the change before storing.

But yea if you are changing oil, its a good idea changing it before winter weather you drive the car or not. Fresh oil keeps wear down in the cold winter.

The manual actually says to change the oil before storing the car and after. Car will be in a attached garage so probably never gets below 50 in there. Guess when it comes down to it probably worth the piece of mind to just do as the manual says.
