Hi all,

I have a 2017 GT350 with around 42500 miles on her. I did an oil change last week and now I'm noticing that my oil pressure gauge is fluctuating when my rpms are steady. I'll post a video of it doing it. In the video I had cruise control on and the rpms were stable at around 2000. The oil pressure gauge was bouncing around though quite a bit. Is this normal? Or is the oil pump starting to go? The pressure gauge is dead steady at idle and seems to be steady while accelerating. Oil level is perfect as well.

I'd start with checking the sender. I doubt it's the pump, but it could be a problem with the pickup. If it still has warranty coverage take to the dealer. :like:

I have an extended warranty, so I guess I'll make an appointment with the dealer :/. I was just under the car, no leaks or anything. But I wouldn't know where to start with checking the sender.

That's great that you have an extended warranty. Now you have no worries at all. I'm sure they will figure out the issue quickly.

Hahahaha hopefully.....won't be able to get an appointment until next week though, I guess I'll try not to look at the gauge too much until then...

I know your problem….
If you’re doing 70mph at 2Krpm you’re in the wrong gear. You should be in 3rd! You’re poor GT350 doesn’t know how to act down that low ;-)

Lol I was just trying to get the fluctuations on camera. Though you have a point, the gauge is dead steady when I'm in the throttle

Those fluctuations don't look like much to me, but I think it's good you are having it checked out.

Yeah I was much more worried until you originally replied so thanks for that! Got an appointment for Friday morning at the dealer, hoping it's something fast and easy!

Those fluctuations are a result of your speed/gear/rpm. The throttle is doing slight on/off and given the rpm, you’re right where the pump speed is increasing pressure until the bypass is opening to keep pressure below 115psi.

try it again 5th gear and you should see it stabilize.

So @honeybadger you think this is normal then?

Edit: You're right @honeybadger, I tried it at 70ish in 5th with cruise control and the gauge was steady, there may have been a little fluctuation, but it was extremely hard to tell. Also did the test at 80 I'm 6th, same thing, steady with maybe a hint of movement.

Out of curiosity does your 2017 have a spin-on or cartridge style filter?
