I noticed something interesting on my 2017. If I check the oil after 15 minutes after shutting the car off the oil is right at the top of the hash marks ( has not moved for 400 miles) but after it sits overnight the oil level about 1/3rd below the top of the hash marks

I thought it would have been the opposite

Any thoughts?

Same experience. Only car I’ve ever owned that does it. But I think it’s normal/common for us. I check mine by the 15 min rule and quit checking it any other time as to avoid driving myself bonkers, LOL.

Oil has a volumetric expansion coefficient of .039% per degree Fahrenheit, so when your oil cools down the 110 degrees from hot, it'll lose about 4% of its volume. Use the 15 minute rule and keep your readings consistent.
It is more noticeable in the GT 350 because it has 10 quarts of oil, very few other cars hold that much oil.

Way cool explanation- thank you !!
I check it using the 15 minute rule (per the manual) and she is staying on full so hopefully I don't have a drinker!
