Hi all, my 2015 GT Base auto is leaking oil. Just noticed it yesterday. Not a lot, just a drop or two in the driveway. Takes about 24 hours to show that much on the pavement. Engine looks clean, nothing leaking from up top. I can't get far enough under the car to look underneath but it doesn't look filthy to my eye.

Anyway, scheduled service at the dealer tomorrow. I have an AirAid CAI, no tune. Should I take it out and put the stock air box back in just out of an abundance of caution? I find it hard to believe that whatever is causing the leak is related to the aftermarket intake, but I'm not sure how they'll react to it. Part of me knows they have to prove it caused the leak but the sensible side of me knows that dealerships are going to look for a reason to avoid paying for an engine issue (if it's even that, of course).

Still another part of me feels icky for even asking this question of the forum. :(

I don't want to renew a debate about Magnussen/Moss. Just want to know what you folks would do.

Its either the oil filter loose or the valve cover gasket leaking.

Don't think you need to take the CAI out. It has nothing to do with the oil leak, even indirectly.

I agree with the loose oil filter as a possibility...valve cover I doubt only 'cause I'd probably see oil somewhere and maybe some smoke. Thanks, Seth!

I agree. Just needed some validation from a total stranger on an internet forum. Thanks, brother!

Could it be the oil pressure sensor?

This was a known area of oil leakage on the EB, some where not tight from the factory.

Loose oil filter or pressure sensor would be ideal. Neither of those is an issue beyond tightening it. Or perhaps a new sensor if it's bad. Gauges show all is well, so...?

I'll find out tomorrow. Stay tuned....

Got the car back today...oil filter was crushed! No telling if it was like that when it was installed or happened as a result of overtightening at the last oil change. Anyway, no apparent thread damage or anything else wrong other than the leaky filter according to the Ford tech. The damage to the filter wasn't extreme, but it was enough for a mechanic to have known better if it was like that before installation.

So....right now your asking yourselves -- "who changed the oil last time?" Jiffy Lube. I make no excuses for that other than lack of time. My bad. But since Ford charged me to "fix" it, I figured going to Jiffy Lube with the filter was worth a shot at something.

To my surprise, the manager at Jiffy Lube refunded my money for the previous service. It seems that they write their names on the filters they install at Jiffy Lube and the manager told me he fired that guy a few months ago for being an all around idiot. Good guy (the manager, not the idiot).

So all in all, not nearly as bad as it could have been. And no one breathed a word about my CAI.:headbang:
