Found this while installing my jlt, found some loose valve cover bolts, tightened them and cleaned the gunk off, do you think its good or do I need a new valve cover gasket?

Do these even have a gasket? A lot of Ford engines of late have a tiny o ring and relies on silicone to seal.

Ford uses rubber gaskets with a small bead of RTV where the front engine cover meets the cylinder head. If you found loose bolts on the valve cover I’d say that was the cause of the leak and you’ll be fine, but I would keep an eye on it to make sure it isn’t still leaking. If it does continue leaking consider yourself lucky it’s on the side of the motor that is fairly easy to access.

I hope it was just loose bolts

The JLT intake won’t prevent Ford from doing warranty work on the valve cover gasket. Now if you’ve done something to mess with the gasket or have removed the valve cover that would be a different story.

For Ford to deny a warranty claim due to modifications, they have to be able to prove that the modification caused the problem. The intake and valve cover gasket would have no correlation in this instance.

But yes Ford should cover this under warranty if you continue having problems.
