Rookie question here. I came from the LS engine world. This is my first ford, what is the benefit of the oil filter adaptor from the GT350 on the Mach 1?
Sorry for the rookie question.

Are you asking about the Oil cooler?

I think the oil filter adaptor from the GT 350 is to provide a place for oil cooler lines to connect.
Lee.
Wasn't it to convert the filter to a cartridge filter from the canister filters that kept backing off?

The Mach 1 still has the screw on filter.

That makes sense with the oil cooling lines. Thank you!

M-6881-52CA is the newer GT 350 oil filter adaptor which using a better 2.7 filter...(2087?)Just had a GT 350 on the lift for the last few days and I can say it looks very similar to what the mach 1 has but I'll need to get a better look at mine to conform. Might be the same part but with a different adapter fitting for a FL-500....its been a while since I've had a FL-2069 so I don't know if its just a FL-500 with tread lock, better filter medium and a little sticker and maybe the mach 1 adapter is the older GT 350 one.
Parts catalog shows a standard 5.0 adaptor and no lines or cooler as per a Mach 1 vin but its not the case as the standard car uses engine coolant. Regardless, I found it interesting and I'll have to dig a but more.
