Did they say which component they modified? Would be good to know if it's possible to retrofit should it be an altogether better solution.

Coming back from Sydney a couple of weeks ago, noticed this funny smell in the cabin, thought it was exhaust fumes.Checked the cabin was closed off from the inside,it was.Looked out of the rear view mirror, what the? Smoke was pouring out of the exhaust, did I make a mistake & purchase a ‘diesel’ Mustang?Absoultely not!Pulled over straight away, turned the car straight away.Called up the NRMA,they sent out a truck for pick up,took the vehicle to the dealer in Goulburn.Anyhow, turned out it was a split in the Harrop oil cooler line(manufacturing fault.)Got onto Autotech in Hume A.C.T.(they originally fitted the oil cooler)Ford would not touch it,as it was not a OEM part.To their credit Autotech straight away organised a truck to come & pick it up from the dealer in Goulburn(@ no cost to yours truly.)Chris(the guy who installed it)replaced the original line which are manufactured with Teflon, replaced it with a steel braided line. This issue has nothing to do with the Harrop TSB that was issued. It was clearly a manufacturing fault with the hose.He has installed many of them. This is the second one he has repaired.Car was picked up last Thursday,& had it back on Friday arfternoon.Highly recommend Autotech, just great to deal with!

@hackney Hi Ron sorry to hear that what a PITA. Nothing like the irony of having a pre-emptive premature oil cooler failure solution fail prematurely! I think I'll call Harrop and prod them to see if they have data eg whether it was a particular batch. If this is the second one Chris has done it's unfortunately prob not the last.

Just a hose failure nothing else, hardly dropped any oil, looked worse than it actually was.Split in the line.

Carbon auto house fitted mine about two months ago - they are back to do the tune this weekend coming - I might just get them to check....can't hurt.

@hackney Hi Ron I called Harrop about this and they aren't aware of any issues beyond the TSB for installation. Did Chris by any chance send you a photo of the split and did he mention if it was the same type of failure as the other one he's done?

I only ask because there's a few of us running them now so it'd be good to track down the issue.

Goulburn Ford said it was a split hose.Chris @ Autotech confirmed it.It is just an isolated incident. If worried about it,replace the line with a steel braided one,as mine has.

For any Canberra guys on here,Autotech(Hume A.C.T) has closed up shop after fifty years.Quite sad, they were the ‘go to’ team for Mustang mods in the Canberra region.🐎🐎🐎🐎😔😔😔😔😔

Really very sad indeed.
I remember when they were in Fyshwick (very early seventies,& different owners of course) they use to specialise in Alfa Romeo.@ the time I had a Twin Cam Ford Escort(Lotus engine & twin 45 Webber carburettors) it had head issues. They repaired it,to a very high standard.
