Is anyone thinking of an oil/filter change after 1000/1500 miles.
Or are you going to wait for first service?

Have every intention of doing an oil change at 5000, but we'll see what happens in reality.

Did mine at 1500 for peace of mind. Now only every 5k-7k.

I happily waited for the first oil change at 7.5 K. I now use full synthetic oil. The dealer used Mobil 1.

I must admit I have never changed the oil on any of my new cars prior to service interval, but reading on here it seems quite common.

I changed mine at 940 miles and put in 5w-20 Mobil1 full synthetic. I always do the first oil change at around 1k to get the factory crap out.

Long drive down to Cornwall nxt week ( well it is for us Brits)that will take me over 1500 so I will do it when I get back.
I can get a royal purple filter on ebay easy; but motorcraft I can't seem to locate locally, unless the dealer does it but not sure I want them to.

I heard that an early oil change is unnecessary, but I did one anyway. Running 8 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum in my 5.0 and so far I like how the car feels!

*Edit: Also using a Motorcraft oil filter!

Gonna do the change this spring at around 7,000 mi. The factory oil is looking good at 3500 with about a half quart low it seems..

Given where I live I had to put on winter tires. That wasn't cheap - figured while it's up on the lift why not change the oil and filter? It had 800 miles on it. It probably wasn't necessary but I felt better knowing the break in oil was out just in time for taking the revs a little higher

What ever you feel comfortable with is fine, how ever if you do stretch it out I'd keep an eye on the oil level starting at 3k since these engines can tend to burn some oil while there breaking in. In my professional experience, lack of oil is far worse than type or old oil.

The oil dipstick is crap, it's as thin as a feeler gauge.
I'm sure my oil level is showing on the low side near the bottom dot@ 1200 miles, its hard to tell.
I will check again and top up if needed.Glad I haven't got the strut brace it would be in the way.

Actually, I've got the strut brace and am glad the dipstick is thin and easy to bend and manipulate around the brace. And for some reason you've got to turn the dipstick to get it to go in fully. You just have to use two hands; one on the end to guide the dipstick into the tube and the other on the top of the stick to push it home.

The only knock I have against the 5w20 oil is that it so hard to see the level on the dipstick, unless the oil is cold and has some color on it from use. Be careful not to overfill in the beginning. Add maybe a quarter or half quart at a time 'til you get used to it.
