Right People, everyone on here that has a GT has been having the situation where our cars are telling us that they need a Oil change after short periods. I am included in this and if I listen to my car it will be having its third change in 20 months and only 9000 miles.

Now,

on the last episode approx 6 weeks ago my car went back to the local dealer to be inspected and when i picked it up they said the oil did not need to be changed and they could reset it, i told them not and that i wanted this resolved properly, fast forward 6 weeks and yesterday i had a call and apparently there is a software update for the car now and mine is booked in for 4/01/18 to have this carried out.

We may be getting recall notice in the post or it may be worth checking this out with your dealers come jan.

I will of course let you guys know once mine has been done.

hopefully this now sorts out the oil life sensor but we will see !!

Not had this issue with mine. That said, the first change was done at 2800 and it's had another two and is now on 25K so maybe I've just been changing and resetting before the problem showed itself.

My timetable for changes is as follows;

Car picked up 30/03/16

First Oil Change Sept 2016 with 2700 miles

First Service carried out 01/04/17 at 5300 miles

Sept 2017 car done 8300 miles and said it needed changing, not changed it yet and now the car has 9000 miles and will hopefully be sorted in jan.

I change it every 5k miles, and reset the monitor:)

Can you reset it yourself or does it need to done by a garage?

you can reset it yourself, but for it to come on every few weeks, sounds like somethings gone wrong.

Had mine serviced in June, have done maybe 1000 miles since then and it came on the other day. So, assuming they reset the reminder at last service, I'd say something's not quite right.

I was going to drop the dealer an email about it. Seeing as it's put away for the winter though, I wasn't in any great rush....

Same as that, had mine serviced at the end of June done about 2,000 miles and oil light is on again. Would be grateful if somebody could tell me how to reset it. Couldn't get any help from Ford when I spoke to them about it, just the earliest we can look at it is 10th of Jan.
More inconvenience having to keep taking the car into them.

Mine popped up this morning, just rolled in to 4k miles. Think i’ll see what the dealership has to say rather than reset just yet.

Using the buttons on L/H side of the steering wheel press the left button to get to information display main menu. Scroll down to setting at bottom of list. Press right, select vehicle settings, press right, select oil life reset, press right & OK to reset. See page 73 in Owners Manual

Interesting timing on this thread. Oil change light came on at 2900 miles last week after I had 1st oil change done at 1000 miles at dealer. I assumed they reset the oil life monitor. Went ahead and changed oil myself this time. I reset the monitor myself so I'll have to see if I have this defect.

Gawd, get a life people!
Change your oil annually with the filter as normal people do.
This bit of American FoMoCo Software for Oil change indication is rubbish, plus it's not helped by the UK Ford spanner monkeys/minions not knowing it exists!

Picking mine up in a week..

1st oil change will be 500-1000 miles
and then every 5000 miles

Its a toy for me, so will equate to yearly for an oil and filter change.. which i will carry out myself..
