So I'm new to the forum.
I came across this head unit on eBay but haven't found anyone who owns one.
After countless google searches I came across the youtube video, which ultimately led me here.
I have a few questions concerning the unit.

1. Has anyone had any issues thus far as far as it breaking?
2. Is there a step by step set up for removing the misspelled words, changing temp to Fahrenheit, and km to miles yet?
3. Do the top 2 gauges (Oil pressure and Hvac) have to be removed?
4. Is anyone attempting another group buy?
5. Is there anyone it can be sent to to have the LED color changed yet?

My concern is having it break and not being able to return it as it's not coming from a mainstream website.
This is especially true as it controls the A/C as well.
I feel that being part of a group buy enclurages the manufacturer to keep us happy more than being an individual buyer.

I also contacted paypal and the seller asking for a refund. If it goes through, I will try the horizontal display version, it looks to be a lot more user friendly. I am also down to chip in on a replacement for Patrick, I feel connected to you all.

I just got through past few pages and saw your problem Patrick.
This is why I haven't ordered yet and ironically it was your posts that was convincing me to purchase one. Maybe they need to be sent a link to this forum so they can see what the fall out will be if they don't do right by you.
And now paypal is using the group buy against you.
These were all cincerns of mine.

A patented process... Being that their company bought this product from that manufacturer, wouldn't that give them the licensed rights to make repairs to their unit, if need be? What an excuse.

I'm fairly unmotivated to make any changes to this unit, given your experience man. Sorry your going through this and I hope they to send you a new brain/host. Or get a refund and we all chip in to buy you one...lol

I'd pony up a few bux for the cause. Patrick suckered me into this mess, want him in the same boat as the rest of us....lol

Mine is isolated, the issue was caused by development testing, and it soft-bricked the device, and the seller will not advise on how to access recovery mode.

If anyone is interested I am going to put my brand new Tesla unit up for sale that I just received yesterday. I'm currently swapping in an aluminator with some other power mods and won't have time to mess with installing the stereo for a month or so. I'll be listing it this evening for the same price I paid. If it doesn't sell I'll hang on to it and install it when I get the time.

My plan is now to KEEP my broken unit, because it's better to have something to experiment on, and eventually I know we'll get into recovery mode! Also, that will give us a bunch of spare parts, wire harnesses, buttons etc if anyone needs parts in the future. It's more expensive this way, but I'll make it work!

I agree with everyone saying yours should be paid for by everyone in here.
But my main setback is not having a mainstream place to purchase from.
I really want the unit but I'm a little worried.

1. So far, I'm the only dummy to break mine in an effort to improve it.
2. We are working on eventually making a rollup package that fixes the bad Engrish, but in the mean time, we will have a step by step narrative to fix it all.
3. The gauges do not have to be removed, but you do need to access the wiring connector.
4. I am looking for someone else with more free time, and interest in hosting the next group buy.
5. Any reputable electronics shop can swap the LED's.

Even if the host unit fails, you can still control HVAC (albeit limited.) I had mine set on AUTO 72 degrees before it went kaput, and that's where it defaults when powered on, and I can flick the MODE switch to enable HI DEFROST. If you have a PerfPack, this will be different for you.

If you only made it through 20 pages before falling asleep, you should consider a MONSTER drink.

What happened to my unit wasn't the fault of anyone but myself, nobody here is indebted to me.

There will never be a mainstream place to purchase something like this, it's not a major manufacturing company like Samsung. I assume it's a small factory filled with 9 year olds flinging soldering irons around with supreme discipline.

It's been awhile since I've messed with Android but I use to do a lot of tweaking and ROM loading when I was into it. Isn't this unit essentially a tablet? There has to be some sort of USB connection to connect to it. That's how they run a lot of their QC testing. You should be able to do the recovery from a PC if you can get it connected to it. You can send reboot commands and other various things using things like the SDK tools using ADB. Or possible reflash using ODIN, assuming you have the files needed.

Haha! Well I reading while fighting the flu which I still am, so page 20 was an acheivement.
And yeah, that's the shop I have imaged in my head, unfortunately.


And the auto A/C is a huge tip, as that was a major concern.
However, I DO have the performance package.

I have a few weeks I can wait and see if anyone in here wants to cook up another group buy.
If not, I will go ahead and purchase alone.

I know how it can be to try and get a group committed to something, so I won't hold my breath.
But I'm 100% in once I say I am.
