heres a newb question: How does google maps and everything work? What I mean is, where is it getting its connectivity to the app from? IE on my Iphone its using my verizon cell plan data, does this interface run off your phones data? If so, it appears I would need a HUGE data upgrade to run this

I believe it does use your data but you can download offline maps for Google maps and TomTom

No the black box doesnt come out, you do have to remove the two connectors on the bottom side though.

So the sync module stays in but is bypassed. I imagine you can just take it out if you want, or is there something that does connect to it? Also, this unit has its own amp/connection box. It doesn't look like that box has mounting screw holes. Does it just float freely where the CD player used to be?

I have been on the very edge of joining this group by. But the damn button LEDs are really the only thing holding me back. That may sound dumb to some, but I'm not good with regular soldering (let alone microsoldering), or know of anybody around me that can correct the color. Button color will bother me if it doesn't match the rest of the car.

I'll be installing my unit today after work, and I might have a pretty simple solution to correcting the LED colors, stay tuned!:cheers:

[MENTION=22748]soldier989[/MENTION] I can try to swap them or if it's really that small I can check around me to get them swap if you'd like...? Don't let LEDs stopping you lol there's always a way to fix it.

No the black box doesnt come out, you do have to remove the two connectors on the bottom side though.

Cool, thanks. I didn't think it had to, but I just wanted to make sure. It was a pain getting those 2 connectors out. Luckily none of the plastic clips were harmed in the removal of the dash. I should get the unit today, just wanted to get the old one out last night.
