Sadly, 460 hp is on 93-94 octane fuel. So it can't be legitimately compared against the Camaro .Actual proper power is 448 hp/408 tq on 91 fuel, to keep things in an even plane with Chevy and Dodge, that rate their power on 91 fuel. Still disappointing. Very little torque, 45-65 extra lbs of weight, equals 0-60 in a still quick 4.3 sec. 12.8@113 in the 1/4...
Bench racers heartbroken I see.

Dear 6g, 0-60 mph in "x" seconds, is a time, therefore it is referred to as "quick". Saying it's the fastest is the wrong word entirely. "Fastest" or fast, would refer to the "speed" in the 1/4.

So don't count on the new, heavier car to be any quicker than the current car. Still going to be slower, much slower than a SS in all performance categories, and far worse mpg's. I use to get 23 mpg in the city out of my C6 Z06 with 550 hp. That's better than a Focus ST driven lightly.

Straight from the horse's mouth!

2018 Mustang GT:
  • 460 horsepower / 420 lb-ft torque
  • 0-60 mph in under 4-seconds (with 10-speed auto and drag strip mode)

2018 Mustang EcoBoost:
  • 310 horsepower / 350 lb-ft torque
  • 0-60 mph in under 5-seconds (with 10-speed auto and drag strip mode)

Title needs to say: Quicker than you can read the headline. Faster is speed, seconds is a time, which is "quickness"....

It seems like Ford is getting to the point where maybe custom tunes won't be as appealing with a drag strip mode, etc.

Interestingly enough in the blazing hot summer here in SC I am hitting 5 seconds flat in my 2015 EcoBoost with nothing more than a Roush CAI and axle back exhaust and Steeda tune on Michelin AS3+ 18" tires, non performance pack. I suspect on a cool day (which we've not had since I've been Steeda tuned) I can also hit sub 5 seconds.

My biggest beef, and I'm not slagging off on the 2018, is that the 2015 has such perfect lines and appeal whereas the 2018 breaks those lines in my opinion and loses balance in the looks department by tweaking the front end etc. Glad to hear they are pushing it further mechanically though from the factory now, of course that should always be the goal.

Still smiling a little though loving how my car looks and knowing I can likely hang with a 2018 EcoBoost in my paid for non PP 6 speed with the tweaks I have. :)

Exactly what I thought. Modest HP/TQ improvements but a giant leap forward with the 10 speed. Curious that they are using the mag suspension to help weight transfer in drag mode. Brilliant.
The "advertised" HP/TQ increases are very commendable are in line with my expectations.

But that sub 4.0 second 0-60 time is amazing.
I would not be surprised if the advertised HP should be closer to 475.
Dyno testing may reveal some surprises.

However, I that believe the new 10 speed automatic with Ford's proprietary hydraulic controls and shifting algorithms is the real technological, high performance masterpiece of this refresh.

And Drag Strip mode?...a Drag Pack with computer-controlled consistency.
Wow...what fun to be had!!

Congratulations Team Mustang!:ford:

Somehow the Drag Strip mode reminds me of Matt Damon playing an airline pilot on 30 Rock saying "well, good luck pressing take off, THEN auto pilot, THEN land".

Did the car even have its dull, dim LED DRL's on? Didn't look like it. Come on Ford put some brightness into the cars "eye's".... give it some life!!!!!

+1 on these comments. Now if Ford can have the Mustang go on a slim fast
Diet I think it would be a winner all around.

Not to throw fuel on the fire but every model for the last several years has ford testing it with 93 octane.

Mustang GT Fastback

Model Highlights

5.0L Ti-VCT V8

From the deep, guttural rumble at idle to the wide-eyed force of torque in acceleration, this engine is all about performance. It delivers 435 horsepower* and 400 lb.-ft. of torque* – that’s increased horsepower and torque vs. the fifth-generation vehicle. The engine is intended to maximize power generation from every compression, with large intake and exhaust valves, cylinder heads that feature high-flow ports and intake and exhaust camshafts that have impressive lift. And the icing on the cake – the 5.0L exhaust delivers a powerful acoustic experience.
*Tested with 93-octane fuel.

Is it the sole measurement of performance? Not really. Gearing, the ability to put the power to the road, weight/distribution, and drive-line power loss, etc all play a role.

Correct, but it's 433-435 hp/400 tq on 93-94 fuel. At 91 fuel it's only 422-425 hp/390 tq. And it's important because many states are doing away with 92-94 octane fuel. And, Ford is the ONLY manufacturer that rates their performance vehicles on 93 or higher fuel. So it's not a legit comparison to a Cam SS or Dodge, if one is to go based on power numbers. Just like a proper byno is done "hood closed"... And how tuning/speed shops refer to tq saying "ft-lbs", when in fact it's stated correctly by magazines and manufacturers as >>, "lb-ft"... And, there is a huge difference between the two.

Stop with the name calling. Also, everyone was warned about intermodel bashing. Anymore personal attacks and other rules violations will lead to infractions.
