The GT350's motor has not long enough a history to become the engine in Fords top dog flagship. The 2018 5.0 is 75% new, is a 4th generation 5.0 since 2011, and is nearly a 5.1L with BOSS internals. Whereas the 2011-17 5.0 was a 4.96L. Ford is basing the replacement of the GT500 on the Cobrajet...
It's not a Flat plane crank kiddies. The 75% all new 2018 5.0 is not to far from a 5.1, considering the 2011-2017 5.0 is a 4.96... The GT350's 5.2 has not been around anywhere near long enough to prove itself for top dog duty. The reincarnation of the 5.0 for 2011, has been around. Just like the...
Seems to be about 4 seconds or upper 3's to 62 mph (100 kph). Not very impressed. I would have some good sticky dr's out back with this on board. To noisy. I prefer a stealth blower, such as the Easton that was on the 2013-14 GT500. And ROUSH blowers are way over rated. I don't know why Ford...
Driven 7 of these now.wile the auto is buttery smooth, it does hesitate about a full 1.5 seconds using the paddle shifters. That can be a win/lose if your racing on the track. Also, failed to ask why is Ford the only company rating its power 93/94 octane?. Because if done on 91 like everyone...
I question the fluid level of the cars weighed at the end of the list. The auto sales have alsway been 35-65 lbs more than the stick, since 2002. An drew my base 300a, automatic 5.0 with sync and power driver seat, with full fluids was 3691 lbs.
By the time you add all those extras you'll be looking at a 4000 lb car, then add 130 lbs more of supercharger and a few more things adding another 30-40 lbs and it's just a barge by then. The PP2 is nothzing special and adds some tech package to the mix, which is defeating the purpose. Ford...
All the weight adding option younslapped on it, pushing it near 3950 lbs. ugh. I hope you don't plan to run it against a Cam SS with stick, in a straight line, you'll get smoked. The few magazines that have tested it, and th crazy overly high hp numbers are just that, crazy, and wrong. Trust me...
H-pipe sounds beefier. X-pipes neuter the V8, make it sound like a smaller V8. X-pipes add rasp and make it sound to Euro. No thx. And a 15 lb weight drop is not going to do anything either. 100 lbs, maybe, but not 15.
Deduct 5 hp and lb-ft of tq from the dyno for it being "open hood". No natural airflow and heat build up. Open hood dynos are good for one thing: Parking lot gatherings, not going down the road.
Rnithing but heavier cars with guawdy product. None looks very inticing. Especially the ROUSH. The hood scoop can't be functional way to the rear of the engine, when air intake is behind drive headlight. And I sure would waste $ on aftermarket CAI's as they've been proven worthless many times...
The base 1SS Cam has magnetic dampers, it'll destroy a new mustang performance pack. Because, the magnetic dampers are a stand alone option on all Mustang GT performance pack or Eco-performance pack cars. The damn mustangs performance pack should have the magnetic dampers to justify its $1500...
There won't be any tunes for awhile on the new V8 due to the duel fuel system and it's complexity. I see a much less reliable mustang for the first time in 25 yrs.
The MY 2013-14' automatic got better mpg in tbe city, at 18, and the same Hwy. The 10 spd did nothing for mpg's. The car is gaining 40-125 lbs base to premium coupe, for lots of new standard equipment. And it did not gain 25 hp if comparing Apples to Apples, Camaro SS and Dodge Chally. It gained...
This is for all 2018 Production of: Focus, Mustang , Fusion, Lincoln MKZ and Continental. For Mustangs, due to excessive 2016-17' MY mustangs overflowing on dealer lots way past (double), the inventory norms of 55-67 day's, nationwide, the 2018's will not be starting production till after...
The active exhaust is standard on GT. But why load up the car with just about everything? A fully loaded new 2018 GT auto us 3960 lbs, coupe. The new model is 45-70 lbs heavier than the 2015-17's..... If your after max speed/acceleration, lighter is better. The base 14" brakes are the former...
