Theres usually only 1 occupation that requires cash, pharmaceutical representative, and not the legal type.
I like to buy things with cash. If I want to buy that GT350 I see advertised. I like to go with cash. Why? maybe I can get it cheaper.
What is the saying? Money talks. Guy wants 60K and if he is looking at 4 10K banded 100 dollar bills he might just take it. Plus I can toss another on top before I leave. Put a 40K check in front of him and he will laugh.

Asset forfeiture has got to be reeled in. 1st, 4th,5th amendments maybe more.

I am familiar with CAF and in VA it requires court proceedings
VA hasn't gone off the deep end "yet". But court proceedings aside, remember the PERSON was never even arrested or charged. The MONEY was taken. I've got no beef with arresting the PERSON who might have had cash on them, if there was cause to arrest the PERSON, but theft of property under color of law can not be defended for any reason.

The "war on drugs" was another step in the "war on rights"

I definitely see your point, I sold a motorcycle and delivered the bike at the airport. Counting $20k on the trunk of my car was not fun. Just the idea of LE taking cash without an arrest is astonishing to me.

And I'd think it was a scam and have you meet me at the local PD :sunglasses:

I never really understood the "war on drugs" Yes some will use them most will not. Some others will abuse them. Some of these will break laws, some will not.

Nowhere in the Constitution does it state the US government can control what any citizen puts into their body.

Deal with the law breakers and let the others live.

The 80’s…..Government corruption at its best. Guess 71 was the start but the Contra Scandal was an awakening

One person wants to drink a glass of Bourbon, another wants to smoke a weed, another wants to make tea out of the opium poppy...

I see no real difference. When or if they commit a crime against another person then deal with the crime.

Edit:

Never mind. Original post assumed someone was talking about buying from a dealer.

My example is a private sale.
Which is when you most likely would hit this problem. Live in Oh, car is in TX. You bring the max amount you are willing to spend. Get stopped in TN for running a stop sign, they "steal" your money.

I have never heard of anyone getting the money back, even with receipts.

Edit I have heard of houses being lost to this and the owner 100% innocent.

yup, some bums or kids smoke or do drugs on property while homeowner is out shopping and they get arrested in the act. State brings charges against the HOUSE for being the location of drug activity. And the mind-boggling thing is the judge GOES FOR IT. And seizes the property and gov't sells it at auction. And not once is the homeowner charged with anything or even accused of failing to have a 50cal machine gun mounted on the roof and full-coverage video with AI pattern recognition that would have shot the druggies when it detected they were doing more than lighting up cigarettes under the porch overhang. The HOUSE is supposed to be sentient apparently.
