I am suppose to pick up my new 19' GT350R tomorrow at the dealer (out of state... so a long commute) and I got a call saying that they did not have the right tool to install the camber plates and would have to order it (saying it was a special tool). It is a small dealer (sells trucks to farmers) in the mid-west...

Two questions:
  • Is this possible?... not a mechanic but it looks like just standard socket bolts?
  • If I elect to get the car and have them installed at a dealer I trust... what would this cost?
Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah if they need a "special" tool, you better off installing it somewhere else.

You looking at $300-$350 with alignment.

I use an impact to tighten the bolt.

I did too, but when I obtained one of these tools, I found out that I wasn’t achieving the factory torque spec on the nut.

Correct, I did the camber plate install myself and likewise didn’t have the tool to do the 70lbs iirc steeda says for the strut nut. I put tape over the nuts and had ford torque it for me when I had it aligned, no big deal, just verify they actually did it! Wasn’t going to buy a pricey tool for one time use

I use an impact to tighten the bolt.
Try it manually, at like 50lbs it just spins freely continuously and you are under torqued. You should not use an impact for something requiring specs and importance like this.

Thank you everyone for the replies - I went ahead and picked it up and will have the plates installed at a later date before I track it for the first time. They did not have the tool which @Cammer referenced. Will post some pictures of KR277 soon!

@TMully06 Did you pick up the OEM camber plates with your GT350R as well, and if so can you please share any part numbers that are on them?

I just installed Steeda plates a week ago. You need a spring compressor but other than that everything is pretty straight forward. I used an impact on the top nut. It took me a good couple hours. Haven’t got an alignment done yet

Ha, I barely have enough time to do my own stuff. Honestly it’s not a bad job. Take the caliper and rotor off, 2 bolts through the knuckle, 1 bolt from vertical link, 2-3 plugs on the shock and take the 3 nuts off the top and that’s it.
