OEM Audio Plus has released their new subwoofer kit it looks like. I thought they were working on a complete speaker replacement kit, but maybe that is still in the works?

$799 doesn't seem too bad compared to the competition of fitted subwoofers, plus this one is 100% plug n play. Would have preferred at least a 10" subwoofer though. Also not sure what their "acoustic filters" are for.

Yeah, with you on the 10" and add 100 watts of power, but a nice little package for the less experienced, especially if they aren't interested in taking the time to learn, which many on this forum are, but not everyone

The "filters" are likely caps to cross over the speakers where they need it to so they can blend them with the sub, I didn't see any info on setting a crossover at the amp and didn't see anything you can set in the picture. My guess is the sub crossover is a single fixed value for the crossover and the "filter" high pass the signal (which means its likely a first order crossover, hard to tell the way it was wrapped if there could be more then just a cap, to be honest I just watched it once at normal speed)

The video was done well, based on what I've been buying and looking to use on my install those wires seemed awfully small to me though I am sure for 300 watts they have been sized properly.

I recently started driving my car and enjoying the stereo upgrades, however, I have encountered a problem in that the speaker grill has vibrated off of the JL Audio Stealthbox twice now. I am going to have to look into a fix for this, as I want to retain the grill for protection. FYI, the grill Is just a press fit design. Has else running this box have the same problem? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks

just use a couple drops of silicone like 5/6 drops in the grille slot recess area, then plop down the grille into it. basically it'll be like 5 spot welds, shouldn't vibrate off. and you can easily pull it off if time comes.

I use hot glue and silicone for tons of things like this. works well

I still think 799 is a terrible value imo for that little sub.

better off with a jl stealthbox.

the oem sub with forescan disabled may even sound better than that jl oem audio plus, and I like the oem audio stuff. but 799 is steep for the 8, no way in hell/.

I got my entire Scion tC oem audio plus kit, for 1099, it had 10/12 speakers (coaxial and crap), all wiring, + the sub and enclosure with the same subwoofer in this kit and dsp. just different molding for the scion.

no way in hell
-- I gave away the subwoofer/enclosure to a friend and bought a jl stealth box for the scion too.

its the same exact subwoofer that you guys are getting, the 8 inch was perfectly fine for me, since came with 1k kit, but no way they should rip you guys for that. like 400-450max.

heres pic of the scion oem audio enclosure, same sub as you guys get. they just use same sub for al their cars. just different enclosure.

I tossed this jl stealthbox in the scion, 399 off Crutchfield open box. it is like literally 5x heavier harder bass its 10w3v3 . so no way would I ever tell or recommend to them spend 800 on that little 8 inch. gouging/overpricing/terrible quality value

Ok cool! It’s hard to believe that JL didn’t encounter this during R&D. The thump from the bass is obviously vibrating the grill loose.

The question remains regarding so many elements of this system: questionable wiring gauge to handle a whooping 300 watts, filters, 8" sub (how much can one get from that size sub??) and lastly, price.

I just installed this last weekend and it sounds pretty good. For not having to splice anything or drill any holes in my car, I think it was well worth the money and it's got plenty of bass for me.

Did you got the 8inch or 10inch setup? I recently ordered the 10inch for my 6 speaker mustang hopefully it sounds good

They only had the 8 when I ordered. I have to leave the back seat down to hear it fully, but it sounds great, it really fills in what the factory system is missing. I think you'll be happy you got the 10. I wish it were available when I bought mine.

No way I would ever go 8". 10" is the minimum and a 12" would be even better.
