OE oil filter on new engine

I did a search but couldnt really find what I was looking for. The factory oil filter on a new 5.0 is said to be quite different from the FL500S filter recommended by Ford for replacement. Is this break in oil filter different for some reason like better filtration or something? I ask because I was thinking about replacing it at 500 miles, thinking that the oil filter would have caught a bunch of metal and it would be good to replace it.

The guts to the original filter do indeed look different than the motorcraft replacement.
You can try another brand like wix or k&n or go Ford Racing version

The original OE filter is made by Champion Labs from what I've read.

I wonder if that OE filter is different because it's a better filter than the FL500S and maybe I shouldn't replace it with an FL500S at 700 miles. Maybe wait till 2000 miles and replace oil and filter?

My guess is that the factory and Motorcraft don't buy their filters from the same supplier but that they are made to the same specifications.
