Odd Shifter

Looking at pictures of the interior there's the expected shift dial and then what looks like a regular shifter. The angle isn't good to see the top, but it looks like it has a regular manual shift pattern engraved in the top. I've never seen this before and there's nothing odd reflected in the window sticker. Searching didn't help. I built the same car on the Ford.com site and it doesn't show up. I figured this was the place with an answer.

Looks like some kind of photo edit, there's some artifacts / bad compositing on that middle photo. My question is, WTF, I mean, is this dealer trying to pull some kind of bit to attract buyers?

It’s simply a rendering error from Ford‘s website. This originally appeared when Ford first launched the GT500 page. The issue has since been corrected. Unfortunately, images live forever online.

Ahh yeah, that makes sense, _since_ I realized it's a stock photo. I've had all sorts of aberrations with various configurators.

Correct. My assumption is the GT500 page was a copy and paste of the GT350. Then the necessary changes were made. The software that crates the 3-D renderings obviously malfunctioned somewhere.

Yeah, it's just a bunch of pre-rendered components and some HTML5/Javascript that "assembles" it, they've got clipping areas defined and whatnot, which is why it almost sort of, kind of works. It's basically how the configurator for most makes / models works (I'd like to see the asset library for Porsche since they have 10,000 options ... )

I remember when the rendering of my 500 had two rearview mirrors stacked on top of each other on each door. It also showed a black racing stripe over the black painted roof. It was bizzare.
