Hey guys, I just got my new 2016 GT PP 6spd. Im a maintenance freak. So I'm for sure going to change the engine oil at 1k miles with RP 5W20, but i wanted to know do you guys recommend changing the transmission and differential fluid? Also anyone recommend any oils the coyote likes or just any synthetic?

I personally have not heard good things about RP and I think RP is over priced.
I am gonna change oil at 2k miles, diff at 30k and automatic transmission fluid at 60k.
I think MT-82 calls for a special fluid. The rear diff if non-Torsen also calls for special clutch type diff fluid.

I've always heard mixed things about royal purple. I used it on my last car. What made me go with it was a test I saw done where they ran to bearings agains one another while adding weight and lubing it with the oil. RP had the least amount of wear. I bean really wanting to check out the penzoil ultra platinum.

Congrats :ford:

My current plan is to just follow Ford's recommended oil changing procedures. Although I haven't investigated this much since my car is new. I am less concerned about the type / brand of oil, than I am of the temptation to spin up the engine to 6500 RPM off the stop lights :headbonk:

I'm like you, OCD. I had my oil changed to AMSOIL SS 5w-20 and my transmission fluid changed to RP Synchromax. At 5K I'll change my oil again and probably change my diff as well. Reason I change the transmission and diff fluid early is I like to get better fluids in there. As for intervals, I'll do 5K oil changes after my first 1K/5K changes and 30K transmission fluid changes starting at 30K and diff changes probably the same interval. Overdoing it? Yeah, but easy peace of mind and for me that means changing the trans/diff ever 3 years or so so it isn't like it is expensive.

Yeah were exactly the same lol. How was the amsoil? Notice any difference? I will just do all of them. What do you use for the differential? Any friction modifiers? I bought the RP oil filter heard it was good.

Thank you! You as well! :ford: I love the car. I've had quite a few cars in my life and this honestly has to be my favorite, it got even better when i removed the spring assist on the clutch! :D lol

It might have helped my MPG a tad, but other than that no changes. As for the diff, probably this and no friction modifier since I have a torsen: http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/gear-lube/severe-gear-75w-90/?code=SVGQT-EA

I went with RP for the trans because a lot of people have ran it here with great results and when I contacted AMSOIL they did not recommend me using their trans fluid in my manual becasuse they haven't fully tested it yet they said. They do have a fluid for the automatic, though.

Yeah I had royal purple on my challenger rt 6spd transmission. Made the shifts really smooth. Took the notchiness away from the tremec. Was funny because I had a bad bearing and the dealer changed it under warranty and did a oil change on it too. I decided to change the oil again after 5k miles the shifting was too rough and came to find out i was 1.5qts low on it. Never been to any dealer since then.

yup and when they had to change my hood weather strip because it ripped off, they left screw driver and pliers under the hood. I also like to check the work they do before taking off and I found those in there. The only dealer I been to that really takes care and pride into their work is the Mercedes dealer. They don't care if you have a 100k or 30k car they treat you with the upmost respect and quality.

I would have bought a Benz if they came in manual transmission. No matter the engine.

Although I say that, but I would want to run the engine hard sometimes, and I wouldn't want to buy too many expensive Mercedes parts doing that.

Yeah I've not had very good experiences with dealer. So i've just done all my own work. Worst one was the differential started to make a whine on the challenger, and it sounded like a bent gear and they told me at the time to put loud pipes on so i don't hear it so I told them I have a lawyer with a louder mouth that will probably make it go away even better. They were then more then happy to change the differential lol
