I agree. I would not mind a bit of exclusivity. Isn't that partly makes an Aston Martin special?

If the mustang/camaro were "exclusive", they wouldn't cost 35k for a v-8 model. Economies of scale are what make them affordable and Aston Martins less so.

Granted price is not completely based on how many they make, it's just one very big factor. Aston Martins, for example, are expensive partly because they have an all aluminum chassis that uses adhesive that's stronger and lighter than welds to put everything together. It requires the car to be placed in ovens multiple times for long periods of time which ups the price and reduces the number of cars they can make at a time.

The closest any mustang owner can get to "exclusive" is a shelby, and I am ok with that. Sure everyone wants to have the car everyone else admires but can't get. I like that there are affordable performance cars everyone can buy and modify. Sure there are 100k of them made every year, but that's the price of affordability.

If you are looking for unique, you are buying the wrong kind of car.

Obviously if you buy a mustang you're not going to be unique but I'd rather own the car that sells less for conscious reasons. Would you rather drive a car you see more on the road? I didn't think so.

I see mustangs, camaros, and challengers everywhere. Can't go anywhere without seeing several. I even see several Maserati frequently. Would I like to have the only mustang around? Sure, but it doesn't bother me that there are 100's of thousands made every year. I didn't buy a mustang for exclusivity reasons. I bought them because they are fun, cheap, and have reasonable performance for the dollar. If they were more exclusive they would be more expensive to buy/repair/modify and that would defeat the purpose of the mustang. The mustang was never meant to be an exclusive car. It was built for your everyday working family from day one. The base model mustang has always stayed true to that.

One day in like 10-15 years after my wife and I have been settled in our professional careers for a while I might consider buying a more "exclusive" car, but it sure won't be a shelby lol.

I don't know why people other than Ford even look at the sales. Obviously the new model mustang is going to sell more than an outgoing model camaro. And the new camaro will likely sell more than the 2016 mustang. Besides that point, I'd rather own a car that sells less to be slightly more unique.
And you bought the most popular 2015 model on the streets:headbonk::crazy:

I don't see many Yugo's on the road. That is pretty unique.
And lets not forget the slightly less unique, but no less ugly. Aztec.

Or how about a 1990 Buick Skylark. Also very unique.

If exclusivity is your agenda all of those would be excellent choices.

91' Tempo anyone?

Dirtleg, you beat me to it! The Aztec gets my vote for ugliest car ever built. Now that's a car for someone wanting unique! Chevy Vega anyone!
