This is my first post. I have been a Mustang nut since I was 10 years old (I am 53) I sold my 1970 fastback project car to by a 2016 Premium auto with 39K miles. I love the car but seem to have one issue after another. First was the rear wheel bearing went bad. Next I found corrosion on the hood. Now the transmission is slipping. The car was well taken care of. The warranty has taken care of the bearing and hood and I guess I will have to take it back for the transmission. I am getting tired of the dealership having my car more than I do.

Was it corrosion or paint releasing. Seems to be a known issue, not the first time its happen. Owner before you may have had oversized wheels and tires causing bearing issue.

Welcome
It bubbles just like rust on steel. I had an 06 and it had the same issue. My buddy has an 11 and his is doing the same thing. It does have 20"s on it. Anybody have issues with the 6R80 slipping?

Welcome to S550 ownership and to the site - tons of info and great folks here to guide you along.

Wheel hub bearing premature failure is common in the S550’s. Members here have had failures as low as 3k mi. and others have had failures in the 12k-30k range; some have been had hub bearings replaced 2-3x under warranty.

So don’t feel like you got a vehicle that is in the shop excessively.

The hood corrosion has plagued Mustangs since 2005 when Ford went to an aluminum skinned hood with a steel frame structure. The sealing process as well as having 2 dissimilar metals is causing the corrosion. Be glad you have a 2016, the Warranty language for paint and corrosion was changed for 2016 and does not require corrosion to be “perforation”. So your hood will be covered under the Ford Warranty and they now are required to replace the entire hood - not just repair. A new TSB was released this year and I had posted it in the Issues/TSB sub-forum on here.

The transmission (if auto) in the 2016 should be the 6R80 and that is a really good and stout transmission; surprised to hear you’re having issues with it. If it is slipping, it could be something as simple as being fluid related or a bad valve body.
