Not sure if anyone has noticed, but Cities all over the world are starting to use noise monitor cams that write tickets. Just like a speedcam.

The two are likely combined in many cases.

Just a matter of time before they come to anytown USA.

Knoxville is trying them.

Already a thread about them in NYC.

Like I said in that thread. If it wasn't for those that just enjoyed driving around driving crazy loud for no reason, this likely wouldn't be an issue. Just like how Cat deleting and offroad tunes wouldn't be an issue if dumb asses in diesel trucks didn't enjoy blowing smoke at people constantly calling attention to it.

You can always blame the loud mouthed asshole for ruining fun for others.

No doubt. I first started seeing noise go crazy with the straight piped harleys back in the 90s. Then I noticed more and more cars going way loud. Cops let the noise laws go. Too many bigger fish to fry I guess.

Tech will now allow them to rein it in and make revenue. Not too fond of that either.

Knoxville's city retirement coffers must be running low. Perfect for rifle target practice-hope that is what happens so it costs more to keep replacing the stupid things. What does a GT500 or Mach 1 in sport put out in terms of dBA anyways? I don't even know.

I'll ride by on a bicycle every goddamn day with airhorn and half my ass hanging out.
Exactly. Good luck with all those ghost cams. I don’t give a crap with what they’re trying to do these days. I’m going to drive my car and whatever happens does. I’ll be retiring soon and when I do it just gets louder from there since I won’t be driving to work every day.

I blame all the scene kids with straight pipes racing in residential neighborhoods at 2am, lol

They do reference dB levels in the article and the use of the word "modified". I'd be curious 1) how many factory exhaust systems exceed this limit and 2) how many municipalities are arbitrarily setting noise floor which is lower than any factory-installed exhaust.

And cost and maintenance. If installed in my area, I'd like to know.

Oh that's ridiculous, Harleys started it all, simple-minded thinking. So it's the exhaust that's loud, the stereo clowns get a pass?

Waiting for the cam that fines ass-hats for being ass-hats. The cities will rake in far more revenue from those.

@ skye

Bloomfield Co has signs posted like speed limits, with dp levels posted, been up for 20 years I know of.

Not sure if true. I heard the active exhaust on "track" violated noise rules at a road course track.

I'm sure Chicago will join that revenue bandwagon soon. Thankfully, I rarely cross into the city anymore.

It was a good day when speedcams were banned here. Trying to remember if it was across Texas or just my county.
