No covered parking

Long story short, I was fired a month and a half ago. Old office had covered parking and now I get zero shade at the new place.

I'm going to try to car pool as much as I can to save my paint. Also I need to wax my wife's car once a month since we'll be using her car almost everyday; which will be annoying... Is there anything else I can do to save my paint from desert heat?!

Sucks you got fired. I have covered parking about 50% of the time out here but my mustang has spent a lot of work days parked in uncovered spots. I also park out side at home all week long at home. I give my wife the garage because her jeep is newer. (And cause she doesn't bitch about my modding addiction) Long story short my car is 4 years old now with a lot of exposure to the AZ sun and my paint still looks great so I wouldn't let it eat you up to much if your parking outside. Now avoiding rock chips on I10 is a whole nother story...

Dude, the rock chips suck. I have chips on the roof and even near the bumper. So tempted to get my car wrapped... Maybe Anti-matter blue?

You do not need to wax the car once a month. Also, cars do well out in the sun. I've never had covered parking at work and never waxed and the vehicle still looks brand new, as long as you wash it every now and then.

No Mines magnetic metallic. I wish I wrapped mine from the start. With in a month my chips were so bad I quit giving a shit. But yeah, bumper hood, roof around windshield. Now 77k miles later I even have rock chips around my rear wheelwells. I bought it to drive it though so I'm going to keep doing just that.

Have you considered a top quality, lined car cover. I used to work near a landfill and the bird droppings were acidic. I used to cover my car every day while at work.

Valid point. The 2012 Corolla is a decade old and clocked 100k miles last week. Paint is mint aside from the rock chips...

I disgress. Wife loves the waxed look though lol.

Don't use wax. It melts at 80 degrees. Use a good synthetic polish. They last longer and give better protection. All my previous cars always looked new.

I would opt for a car cover, they make ones that are kind of light duty for sun protection etc…

I thought about doing that but my wife would think that would be over board. But once the Corolla hits 20 years with glossy paint while other cars rot, I'm sure she'd be happy.

Maybe it's too over the top. She wants a 90s Suburban and I want an Expedition as a family car since the family is expanding.

I use the Turtle ceramic spray on. I also have Nu Finish polish. Is there something better I should use?

Car paint will be fine in the desert sun. Have never had any paint issues in southern Cali desert or death valley area when I was there. Keep a little polish on it and clean off any bird poop or debris that might get on it. I would get window tint and windshield sunscreen if you don't already have that. Baby gonna get hot inside.

Those are good options. I personally think any of the "non wax" products are superior to any wax products t out there, especially when it comes to better protection against the elements for a longer time.

My old job had zero shade to park. 9+ hours a day, 5 days a week, for four years. My touch up pen still is a perfect match, to my eye. Just make sure to use a good wax with UV protection.

Edit:
To add, you'll have to be extra diligent dealing with bird poop and anything else because it'll cook in the sun. That's honestly the hardest part.

I parked my 2012 Civic Si in the sun for college. Also didn't have a garage to park in for most of ita life. The roof started to fade. I could not get the white off the black paint. That's why I am nervous.
