I have never used NOS before as you can tell, but I'm looking for a quick and easy way to add some real RWHP and want to know if a Nitrous Express kit could be the answer. My 2015 is still pure stock. Will NOS still give me the RWHP without more air flow like CAI and or Exhaust? I'm looking at the kit with the automatic WOT valve so that it sprays only at WOT.

Is the a reasonable answer to my quest?

Thanks

Simple answer yes. Nitrous is the extra air flow.

There's no better bang for buck than nitrous. Just do your research and consult an expert as it's also one of the easiest ways to ruin a perfectly good engine.

Are you trying to compare a NOS system to an Nitrous Express system? Or are you Fast and Furiousing your understanding of Nitrous systems. If that is the case be carefully you don't blow the welds on your intake manifold.

NOS is Nitrous Oxide Systems not an interchangeable word for Nitrous. That is unless you name is Brian or Dom....

I would suggest you do not put Nitrous on your car since you have no clue what so ever as to what you are getting yourself into. Seriously! Until you do a ton more reading and at least know some of the basics like "wet vs dry" or what kind of fueling you will need, do not bolt on a system and spray your motor into the junk pile...

Is not a Nitrous Express a NOS?

I guess a simple 100 shot is far to complicated and dangerous for anybody but a fully qualified forum approved racer

I just looking for a easy boost that doesn't require dismantling my engine.

Perhaps a set of long tubes and full cat back is less complicated to maintain.

Nitrous is fun and cheap but filling the bottle gets old. I would suggest saving for a centrifugal blower, tvs, or a whipple. They are the biggest bangs for the buck and there's no bottle to fill. Checkout some of beefcakes specials, or palm beach has a whipple special now.

If you are going to spray it I would suggest you get a custom tune from a reputable tuner. That's the only way to do it safely IMO.

I'm not the guy using NOS interchangeable for nitrous....and if you would like to take a run up against this "forum approved racer" feel free to come to TX2k17 or streetcar takeover at Thunder Valley April 28th...

Feel free to come back when you need to part your car out when you blow it up....the for sale section is pretty active here.

And no...NOS is not Nitrous Express.....NOS is a brand like Nitrous Express, Zex, Edelbrock Nitrous Systems, Nitrous Outlet.........

I've had nitrous on 2 of my cars. A TNT kit on my 96 GT & Nitrous Warehouse Kit on my 2000 Trans AM. Its cheaper than other power adders at first. Initial investment is about $1,500.00 for everything. You not only need the kit but also purge, bottle heater, window switch, spark plugs, tune. Then filling up the bottle every few runs. do your research & good luck. The power is fun till something breaks (3rd gear in my 96 GT).

I would just go with the long tubes and catback. There is a major shortage on nitrous right now and most places are charging around $7 a pound to fill and run out quick. Call fillers in your area and get an idea of what they are charging near you. I found out the hard way why so many used nitrous kits are for sale at good prices.

Nitrous is the best bang for the buck option.... Initially. I have considered putting it on my 2015 A6 car myself, and I have used it in the past on different cars (mostly fox bodies) with great success.

The key to using nitrous is understanding it... Lots of variables come into effect. The size shot, timing, plug heat range, bottle pressure, etc... You have to know how all these work and the impact they have to make sure the vehicle is safe while using nitrous and to have it tuned properly.

The upside to nitrous.... It's cheaper to get into and it provides mega torque. The downside, it has to be refilled and you can't really have "spontaneous" fun. The bottle has to be full, heated, and turned on for the car to be ready to make power. To be able to do that all from the comfort of the drivers seat can require lots of extra accessories that drive the cost of your nitrous kit up a few hundred dollars. The upside to a supercharger or turbo, it is power on demand... No planning required. Just mash the gas and go.

If you are going to use nitrous I would suggest a dyno tune to get the maximum impact. Haven't seen any mail order tuners willing to tune for more than a 100hp shot, and if you aren't going to spray at least 150 hp you won't make the same power you could gain with a blower.

Hope some of this was helpful.

Its alot more then just bolting up the kit, like my lil pony said their are alot of other things needed to run nitrous safely.Bottle heater, system has to run at a specifc pressure, purge valves to get the air out, tuned to take out timing, with a hundred shot probably about 2degrees taken out.You also have to REGULARLY check your plugs for detonation. It can get expensive in the end,and then theirs always filling up the bottle.

So it sounds like my best option is long tube headers, cat back 3" exhaust and probably CAI with tune.

Thanks all!

I remember the good old days when I ran a 175 shot on my old 86gt, no colder plugs, no tune, no window switch or bottle heater......guess I should of blew that motor many times but some how never did. Same thing with my 87lx except a 200 shot..

My point, Nitrous gets a bad rap. Not that you can't make mistakes or have parts fail, I just think the the danger is over blown..
