I had NGK Iridium tipped spark plugs installed and now my engine is running oddly. It’s louder, vibrates more and is making little pops and crackles coming from the engine. She idles normally even with the vibrations in the steering wheel and those noises. I checked my gauges and oils pressure, temp are fine. Cylinder temp is stable and appears normal, but vacuum/boost is all over the place. Admittedly, I’m no mechanic and I don’t look at these gauges as much as I should, but is this something that can be fixed? Could it be something wasn’t reconnected correctly? Should I disconnect the battery then reconnect and see what happens? Looking for answers if possible. My mechanic will be checking as well but I wanted to have an idea of the issues before he looks it over. Any help would be appreciated.

you may have gotten counterfeit plugs
when I changed mine I went to a Ford dealer parts dept to avoid the counterfeit problem.

I go to advanced auto. Only place I know that won't sell counterfeits.

It makes me wonder if you didn't get a bad plug. It happened to me before

Did you check and verify the plug gaps were set correctly. I know they should be pre gapped but they can get closed up in shipping. I would verify they are gapped correctly first.

If you knew how many counterfeit replacement parts were on most aircraft you'd never fly again haha.

Oh yes they do...for quite a while now.

I checked for authorized dealers from NGK and got mine from one on the list.

Many fake Motorcraft parts now, too.

I have a niece that works building military and commercial aircraft as a quality inspector, and she has told me for at least the last 10 years she will never fly period. If she will not sign off on a inspection they just hire flunkies that will sign off.
