Got the new Steeda sealed intake, installed it...

Loaded the revised tune from Lund to my Ngauge. Tune showed up on the Ngauge and attempted to load it. Got a second or so in, all the bells and chimes did what they are supposed to do when you DL a tune, and then it says " cannot load tune, can not initialize connection with vehicle.

Mind you it's connected, it recognizes the car. But it's giving the "BATT" INDICATOR on the ngauge , as if the ignition is off. When it is on.

If I start the car, the ngauge PIDS all work. So it's getting signal.

WTH folks?

If I can not load this tune, I will have to put the JLT back on. That still does not clear my issue though for future use for revisions or putting the car back to the stock tune.

Anybody have any ideas?

The gauge is telling you the battery voltage is too low to safely flash the ECU. Connect a battery charger to the car's battery before trying to flash the tune. I had the same issue when installing my Ford Perf Power Pack2 even though my car was literally just a few months old with a brand-new battery and it started just fine.

You can buy a trickle charger for cheap on Amazon...Auto Zone might even loan you one for free. https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER...id=1540249737&sr=1-7&keywords=trickle+charger

Hopefully just a low charge and not any real issue on this one as that would be a pain.

No previous battery issues?

I mean, this is a 2018 with 2k on it and it starts and functions as it should. I have also never had an issue with loading a tune like this before today.

I don't see how the battery would be causing this. Unless having my hood open for an hour plus while messing around with the intakes had anything to do with a drain?

Thank you for the info though. I have my jump box on it now but it's not make a difference. Does it have to be a charger?

My car was just a few months old, garage-kept, zero battery issues and my ECU flash failed within the first 30 seconds due to the battery. Battery read 12.3 volts, IIRC and it still failed. The Ford ProCal software give you big red "Connect battery!" at the top of the screen, and mentions this in the instructions so it's a bit more user-friendly than just a light on the gauge that says "battery" or whatever. Once the charger was connected I had zero issues.

A battery charger is very useful to have around. You don't need it until you need it, you know? :D

Is a jump box like another battery? Batteries drain and apparently the flashing procedure uses a lot of juice....either that, or the manufacturers tune them to look for a high enough voltage to avoid the possibility of the battery dying mid-flash and bricking your ECU.

Bought a NOCO Genius G1100

Hooked it up, started charging, says 25%

Damn..See What it does once I get some time on it. Just hooking it up didn't change anything,

So you're going from the 120mm jlt to the steeda? Have you opened up the grill?

I have not..

Steeda inlet is as big or bigger than the JLT. I am highly interested in keeping IAT's down in the staging lanes and at the line. The Steeda should help with that being a closed design. Yesterday with ambient temps in the low 60's, I was still seeing IAT's in the 140's. The car even with a tune will pull timing off the start with them that high.

Yikes !!!! That is nuts. Closed design should definitely bring that down.

How long are you sitting in the staging lanes? I would assume idling as well? I have only seen those kind of IAT's when it was in the 90's ambient and sitting idling for an extended time, like 15-20 minutes min. That is with the JLT and opened up grill by the intake duct.

I'd say the average was high 120's but it would creep up if it sat for 5-10 mins.
