When at the dealer I asked to view any cars and the principal kindly showed me 2 client cars in the basement (from the outside only).
If only all dealers had this policy.

Nice condition on the TE Cortina in some of those shots....not many of them survived their genetic rust disease. A rare sight these days.

Hi Muztang
When I was up there about 2 weeks ago I only saw the convertible in the workshop. The white GT wasn't there, but I do recall seeing the police car up on a hoist being serviced so it looks to be the same time you were there.

Outside of being able to see the interior first hand the only other thing that struck me was that the aerial for the convertible is fixed to the rear rhs panel

Needs a larger fuel tank as will give a range of only about 300km
300km city driving on a tank would be pretty good - country/highway driving would see much more km per tank

Muztang, how did the panel fit look in real life on that white GT fastback. The real bumper looks a bit odd around where it joins to the back guard (or whatever you call that area on a coupe), and door on LH side looks a little low (look at the plastic black window sill and crease in door immediately behind the door handle). Maybe just the lighting and angle?

I saw someone else complaining about panel fit imperfections on another white FB over at another Mustang forum. Perhaps white shows up imperfections more?

I've spent hours getting these things almost perfect on older cars, particularly droopy doors, so I tend to be picky.

On another matter, I've never bought a new car before, so to what extend can you say, that's not quite right when seeing the car after delivery? Obviously not going to accept minor dings, scratches and paint imperfections, but to what extend can you demand they fix up things like panel alignment? It's not like we get to have a look at 2 or 3 and say "yep, I'll have the one on the right".

Update

So I've received an update via Ford PM's on Facebook.

Car was built 19.01.2016, clocked off the train on the 27.01.2016 in Baltimore.

Now, "At this stage it is going through it's customs/quarantine phase where it will be washed, sprayed with an underbody anticorrosive and plastic wrapped. Following this, it will be released to the shipping company for its 'passport' paperwork, then put on next available vessel, with an ETA into Australia of 16.04.2016."

So it's still a bit vague on where in Australia the ETA is, but provided everything goes well ( ;) ) it's looking like late April pickup from dealer.

Ship could be Faust, Temesis, Parsifal, Fidelio etc. depending on how much more streamlined Ford is this side of the NYE party.

I don't think the Christmas/NYE timing did anyone built in 2015 any favours but I'm hoping these early 2016 cars will not be that delayed.

It's up to Cthulhu's good graces and mercy now.

Hi MC, I only had a very quick look for less than 5 minutes as dealership was closing, but you are right the panel alignment was poor in places, I have also seen a race red convertible which I posted earlier with bad panel gaps and alignment particularly around the doors and bootlid. Curiously the first Mustang I saw in Australia (the yellow LHD one doing the rounds) was quite good in that respect. It would not hurt to ask the dealer to rectify as I'm sure a panel beater for example would not let a customer car go out that way.

Thanks Muztang. I don't think anybody is expecting hand-built supercar quality, but it's still a $60K car, and panel alignment should at least be okay. You don't see these issues on $20K cheapies. My father-in-law has a Holden Cruze (close to worst car ever to drive with all the handling dynamics of a Westinghouse chest freezer), but it's more than passable in terms of panel fit. You'd have to think the 6 days per week, 22 hours a day thing (or whatever it is) at Flat Rock doesn't help.

Yes, I will be asking dealer to rectify before handling over the balance if I get something that looks like the white GT you saw. From what I was reading yesterday, you're well within your rights to do so.

Ha Muztang, that's Power Ford! I stopped by there a a few weeks ago and my mate showed me 2 GT's they had in that same workshop. A black one and the ruby red convertible, might still be that same one in your pic!
