I just picked up my car this week and haven't had a chance to drive it much because of snow. Haven't driven a stick in 20 years, so still getting used to that as well. One thing I've noticed is when taking off from a stop and turning, I feel what I'm calling tire hop. It stops when I ease off the accelerator. No problem with straight takeoff. I can go as fast as I want to with no hopping. Maybe its having a little sand on the roads, though I don't think that has always been the case. I have the standard Pzero tires and it is very cold. Maybe I'm taking off too quickly in first gear, though I don't think so. This would be simply the speed you would turn onto a busy street. I haven't tried sport mode, but I shouldn't need that to merge into normal traffic. Thoughts?

My guess is your experiencing the result of summer tires in the cold weather. Give the snow/wet mode a try. I live in NJ and it's been freezing cold this week and I find the car is more planted in the snow/wet mode.

I agree that it's most likely the summer tires in the colder weather. I live in Houston and I can tell you we've had abnormally cold weather here lately and the Pzero's have not held up too well. I get the same thing turning when it's cold out.

Concur...the P Zero's are notoriously susceptible to cold and selection to Snow/wet seems to tactilly dampen or smooth out the steering to a small degree. Granted, if one could change tires to something more seasonal then I believe overall driver input would be more responsive and positive (the cold Pirelli's feel "dead" to me when driving in near freezing conditions, even after allowing for several miles of subtle warming). :first:

One other possibility: Possibly differential limited slip, or "poszi" chatter? When I had my wifey's back wheels off the ground, I noticed the limited slip in the differential was REALLY tight.

I tried Sports mode, though only on a single turn, and did not get the chatter. The whole back end slid just a little, but easily corrected. Loved that feel. Think I'll do it again. :D
