So two quick new owner questions.

1. Is there a way to put the car "on" without starting it. If so how.

2. The key. So I inderstand it opens and locks without me hitting the buttons. I just have to be in a certain distance. So my question, if I was close couldn't anyone just open my car?

Thanks. Sorry I know there silly Qs.

Press button without pushing brake or clutch.

You gotta be pretty close. If you're on passenger side, someone can't open drivers side even.

#1 is explained in the manual. It's advised to read it. Lots of information in there that you won't even realize.

#2, I suggest going play with it. Have someone carry your fob while you try different things.

You know the funniest thing when I got her today. You know the talk about the "survey". So the dealership manager came out to give me the talk as I'm in my ride, dying to take off. As he is talking I'm playing with the touch screen and my FM/AM do not work. Fuzz. Satalite and phone good to go. So he's like are you completely satisfied, I'm like yes I am but my radio isn't working. Should have seen his face. I had to go and pick my daughter up so they couldn't fix it. They fix it soon and he promised all kinds of free shit. Lol. No big deal for me. I know they will correct it. I just wanted to get the rubber on the road.

It unlocks when you touch the door handle and it locks when you touch the little wiggly lines on the door handle with just one finger.

And as others said, if you push the start button with no clutch, ignition comes on.

Or with an Automatic, just hit the button once with your foot OFF the brake pedal.

You have to be real close to open the door. I was reaching across a snowbank to open the door with the keys in my pants pocket, max three feet away, and it wouldn't open.

1. auto: push button once with hitting brake

2. yup it would , but the close is very close not like some 3-4 feet away. YOu need to be in proximity of the car( which can be said, that wither you are getting in or admiring your pony ehhehe)

I've had this happen a few times...a passenger will grab the passenger side door handle before I touch the drivers side handle and the car wont unlock until they let go of the car handle.

Not silly. My wife can't open the passenger door when I am standing at the driver's door with the fob in my pocket. It's pretty picky. It doesn't open until you put your hand into the space between the handle and the door, and then it takes a fraction of a second longer to unlock than I wish it did. I pretty regularly beat it to the punch and get a locked door. Then I have to start the sequence over or it gets confused. I have never been completely convinced that it locks when I walk away. If I don't arm it manually by pressing the ridges on the door handle, the doors are unlocked when I come back to the car after walking away. So I arm it every time.

I am almost certain that "proximity locking" isn't a feature, though I seriously wish it was.

I had an aftermarket alarm system on my last car (which I drove for 9 years) that would automatically arm the alarm and lock the doors 30 seconds after the last door or trunk was shut. I got really spoiled by the fact that I could just get out of my car and walk away.

I have had my '15 for 4 months now, and still forget to lock it sometimes.
