New tires?

Hi. So I have heard that the continental tires will provide a smoother ride than the current stock pirelli tires on my gt. Is it worth it to switch or wait until the pirellis wear out. They have 5000 miles to date. Thanks.

I ditched my stock Pirelli’s right out of the gate. Had an appointment the week after I picked up my car. The tires had about 150 miles on them. The folks at Discount Tire were able to sell them as used tires to a college kid that needed tires for his Focus. So I did feel better that someone was able to use them rather than them just getting tossed/recycled

You gotta be more specific. Continental is a brand that makes dozens of different tires. I would honestly wait to buy new tires until I bought a new set of wheels.

Continental DWS06 for all season and Continental Extreme Contact Sport02 for summer only is what I would recommend from the Conti lineup

If you want summer only Continental ContiExtreme Contact Sport 02

I have been running these exclusively on all my Audi's< explorers and my Mustang over the years...I don't think i will ever use anything else

That all depends on you and your budget as well as how you feel about the drivability of the car on those tires. I couldn’t wait to get those Pirelli’s off, they’re just not a good tire for this car.

I just go these for my Mustang Gt Premium, and like everyone says, they are smooth as butter and the most quiet tire I have ever had on a car. 85 Mph on Texas tool road with little road noise. Discount tire is the place

Another vote for Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus. Night and day better than the OE tires. I put mine on at 10K miles and now have around 24K on them. Wear is great (even with allot of negative camber) and they are still quiet. Because I autox my car on different wheels and tires I end up rotating the Conti's allot so that might help.

I have a friend in the tire business. Per their experience, Continentals along with Michelins are consistently round have low road force balance numbers. Another source for good information are Tire Rack reviews.

To be the Devil's advocate, I went the Michelin route, with the Pilot All Season 4, got rid of the Pirelli at 4000 miles. Night and day difference. For an all season they are an excellent tire as are the Continental DWS. 06 plus. They ride very smooth, handle extremely well in wet, dry, even really cold weather. I drove mine last Christmas Eve in single digit temps and they gripped and went extremely well. Pavement was bone dry but cold AF. I found a local Mustang enthusiast that could use the like new Pirelli. Bought mine from my local @Discount Tire as well. Very great service, highly recommended.
