Got new Ford Racing track shock/strut package and BMR SP-083 handling springs installed yesterday morning on my recently acquired 15 GT with perf pack. Shop texted me during the install to inform me the car already had Stteda IRS braces installed, bonus!
I’m going to hwy commute it a few days before getting an alignment to let it settle but so far I’m really happy with the choice and what it did for the ride quality. The bouncing from over dampened springs and loose feeling of steering input over less than smooth road is gone. Once the alignment is done I’ll push it a little harder on some twisty backroads over Christmas break to see if there is anything else I want to change in the immediate future.
I was thinking I wanted more bar up front but so far it feels a bit more neutral under throttle during a turn, I got about 90% of what I wanted so far. I was really wanting the car to feel more like the M3’s I have driving off and on the last 15 years. To me those cars with $800 worth of suspension aftermarket were perfect for aggressive daily driving and occasional track days.
This set-up is really a bargain if you catch some of it on sale. I bought the Ford track damper set from Shelby for under $500, the springs for about $220, pay $200 to the shop for a professional install, done.
