Light mod plan is turning into a moderate mod plan quickly:

this weekends plans are:

PP1 wing install
Bullit grille install
Mgw shifter install
Stainless clutch line install

also taking with wengerd about a custom e85 tune.

Love how accessible S550 parts are. Reminds me of when I got into the vintage mustang scene 10+ years ago before covid spiked the prices on everything.

didn’t get as much done as I wanted since i had to work Saturday but the Ford performance air/oil separator is in.

Yanked the carbon filter plastic and all. The car idles smoother and doesn’t die if I let the clutch out too quick.

ditched the engine cover too. I don’t see that it serves any value and it’s fugly.

This is turning into my build thread. I’m Picking up a set of PP2 wheels and Michelin pilot tires tonight.

Goal is to be able to keep up with my buddy’s 1LE next weekend around a short track - should be close as his car gives him a slight advantage but I am a more experienced driver on newer tires.

I put the Steeda clutch spring in my car and honestly can't tell a difference from the factory unit. If anything I guess it's lighter but no more feeling or anything like that. I really miss the cluth pedal feel on my 87 fox, could feel it bite so easy in the pedal.

Yeah not a great amount of feel still but it doesn’t snap your leg up at the bite point like the factory spring. It’s a much more linear feel.

Swapped the mgw shifter in - it was okay but a lot of noise and vibration for not a ton of improvement in shift feel.

I’m going to try the stock shifter with steeda bracket and stainless clutch line instead. My factory shifter might actually end up being pretty good if I can stop it from moving around on hard acceleration.

Did you replace the entire shifter assembly or just the lever?

The entire thing. Don’t get me wrong, it was an improvement. But not as much as I was expecting. And the NVH went up a lot.

I think my issue is with the MT82 and not really the shifter, seems my factory shifter is actually quite good minus the movement on hard accel. The gear engagement of the mt82 just sucks.

Too much NVH for you? Does the MGW come with two sets of springs (stiff and soft)? If so, which did yo install?

I don’t think it comes with extra springs. If it did I lost them. And the NVH wasn’t bad but this is a street car for now and I like the fact my interior is dead quiet.

I’m keeping the shifter for ~3 years from now when the car is paid off and I go full track build.

What do you guys think about adding an intake oil separator? I’m coming from the hemi world where these were very popular.
i opted for the "FORD PERFORMANCE AIR/OIL SEPARATOR",on the passenger side,i empty it the first day of each quarter...i usually get about 22 cc's of oil.

Here’s the car as it sits now with the PP2 wheels and Michelin super sports
