Hey!

So, I'm coming up on 1K miles on my 2016 GT. I'm thinking about doing an axle-back exhaust. So far the one that's really stood out is the Roush (#421834 / $549.99 on most reseller sites).

For the Roush axle-back...is the trumpety/rasp really as bad as some of the videos portray? Also, I see people saying it sounds stock during normal driving. Is this really true? I want a little more volume but don't want to disturb neighbors.

Anything cheaper that's even worth putting on the car? $549 seems a little steep, even for Roush.

Second question...weighted shift knobs? I know WCLW makes them but I don't know that I want what he's offering. I kind of like the idea of the Boomba but don't like the way it looks.

I definitely don't want to put the lockout adapter on...so do I really have any other options for weighted knobs?

The Roush axlebacks will change the tone of the exhaust to make it a bit raspy on the higher end. It's not a super-deep, and it doesn't have drone. It won't disturb the neighbours until you put an x-pipe or h-pipe.

On a scale of 1-10 in terms of loudness, with 1 being stock and 10 being headers + Corsa Extreme, this is about a 4.5

Hmmm...any suggestions for something of similar volume with a lower tone?

Borla S-type and Magnaflow competition axle backs both seem like a reasonable volume. I've seen some complaints about the MF and drone though

I was planning on going with the Roush Axleback and an XPipe myself but didn't want the drone or rasp. Instead I went with the Solo Performance Axleback with J pipes and couldn't be happier with my decision. There is absolutely zero drone and it doesn't sound raspy to me at all. It's loud when you want it to be but not obnoxious and it sounds nice and deep. The price is $489 for polished chrome tips or $519 with black polished chrome tips with free shipping. The quality of the kit is outstanding especially for the price.

Here's a small video of my car with the Solo Performance Axleback.

I went cheap at 1st with 3in flows and an xpipe. then I recenthy got Corsa sport and I love it . Just as loud as flows but only when i step on it. No rasp and no drone ..none..I have a universal xpipe

If I were you I would get the Corsa Sport axleback or the cat back.. moddiction.com can give you a sweet forum member discount if you pm them...

OrangeRush I suggest a full catback, cut more weight too. Plenty of options there.

Love the sound of my Roush AB's. Nice deep tone when you want it, quiet when cruising, easy to modulate the noise level with the throttle & no drone. Can be a bit raspy @ WOT, but how often are you really going to mash it to the floor ?

Cheap & easy to make it louder/deeper later if you want by adding an H or X pipe.

if you have the money, get the Corsa setup.

If you want a good, LOUD, and cheap option, get the res delete Xpipe for $100 and the flowmaster outlaw catback for $400. It puts a big smile on my face, but my car is not my DD...drone is not too bad if you avoid sitting at a certain RPM spot. With the tuner, I dont find myself driving in that range very often

My boss had magna flows, loved the sound. My 16 has Ford racing, they get loud higher in the Rpm range but are otherwise civilized.

I have the Rousch AB, and love em. They are quiet when cruising and and have a deep rumble to them. I have zero complaints about how they sound at WOT. I guess it could be considered raspy, but again, I have zero complaints. I can't help but smile every time I start the car. No drone at all while cruising.

This is the only exhaust mod I've done.

I installed the Roush on my car the 2nd week I owned it. Immediately bought Corsa Extreme Catback two days later. Roush were way to quiet for me. I'm not one to like balls to the wall loud either lol.

Thanks for all the help guys! I actually did a ton of reading and looking around...I wasn't initially considering a full cat-back system. However, for the price, I think I'm going to go with the MBRP Street cat-back. I just finished reading through that 30+ page thread on this system...seems like 95% of people are happy with theirs.

I'll post back once I get it.
