My car is a MY 18 currently with 3.0 build 19025. Do you know whether or not 3.4 will be officially available to MY 18 and it so what "features" or "fixes", etc. are included that my current 3.0 doesn't have?

Note that my car is a "base" GT PP with 301A plus Navigation in case that makes a difference.

Thanks again!
Hi Dick. No, you're stuck with 3.0. 3.4 will be an update on those of us with 3.2/3.3. You can always go unofficial with Cyanlabs but that's up to you.

Yep, if you’re on v3.0, then you’ll stay with that. You’ll just get releases with bug fixes, drivers, etc. for that software level.

Nope still have 1.18, Ford says their engineers working on it
That string will be incorrect. See all the prior posts about the known bug. You need to check the packages actually installed to verify the map update completed successfully.

Thank you for doing this. Also, can you advise when Sync 3.4 will be released to the wild? Thanks again.
Update. You can start checking the owner portal later today. Should be available in the next couple days. OTA hasn’t been switched on as of yet.

OTA = over the air

basically download it from the internet directly to the car, not sure how well that will work if its a LARGE download. but, we'll see i guess..

All of us with Sync 3.3 build 19052 with successful 1.19 map and voice files still have 1.18 on settings. Are you saying we need to change something, or you were referring to something else? Hope the latter.

At any rate, are we 3.3 19052 owners eligible for the 3.4 version free of charge? And will it show 1.19 maps once done? What exactly are the improvements of version 3.4? Just curious about that last part. Thank you.

Oh, and I'd prefer to download that update, rather than OTA, so I don't have to set up the Wi-Fi. Plus it might take hours with the ignition on, vs 10 to 15 minutes. Comments welcome.

3.4 fixes the wrong map version string. Nothing else is needed there. 3.4 doesn’t cost anything unless you feel compelled to pay a dealer to do it for you. It’s no different than the prior updates. There’s quite a bit different from 3.3, though I can only comment with any real authority on my specific piece of the pie. OTA will download in the background. It’ll start/stop as needed. So, come home and it picks up WiFi it’ll start back up for a short time pulling down data for example. That said, personal preference is USB, probably as that’s what I use constantly.

Not exactly like this, as UoMEng said.
It will show what the originally installed map was.
Early 2019s came with 1.17 and it still says that after any update is applied (like 1.18 and/or 1.19)

FYI my "early" (built late December 2017) 2018 came "I think" with map version 1-17 since the Ford NAV website confirmed that the new version was available when I checked early this year. The map version on the main "sync version" screen changed to 1-18 with that NAV update and to 1-19 with even the "didn't finish" 1-19 update and stayed at 1-19 when the update actually finished. Build version 19205 was installed by OTA or by me prior to the 1-18 NAV update I did in Feb 2020.

What, if anything, about Sync 3.4 would be "desirable" enough to motivate someone to buy it to install in a 2018?

Thanks!,

You’re not impacted as you’re on v3.0. This bug is in v3.3.

You have a 2018, so I'm guessing your version of Sync is 3.0 19205 and you are using the older Sync hardware that doesn't officially support Sync 3.2-3.4 and won't be updated to those versions by Ford.
You are stuck with 3.0 * versions on the hardware you currently have (officially). Unofficially there are ways of getting Sync 3.4 on your car. Buying new hardware or hack/slash the install from Cyan Labs.

The string display bug is for Sync 3.3.

3.4 looks different and has features 3.0-3.3 don't have.
