Was a 2020 20 plate that I tried, I think it was a "55" edition based upon the badge on the dash.
I think the disappointment for me was way more than Magnaride or a manual box could compensate for.
Back to the drawing board for now, I don't use my car much, so I'm cross shopping all sorts of things, smart money says sit tight and wait and see what the car market does over the next 6m or so. Easier said than done!

Thanks!

Oof, yeah definitely something to be aware of then, that's basically double the cost of replacing my current tyres, granted they are only 18's though.

That's pretty good, why so much lower for the pre-face lift? I'm guessing the 2018+ is double that/more?
That said, I note that I've gone close to 15k miles on this set - most of those motorway miles, and i've still got >4mm on the tread. So although expensive, they do last. Unless you're a hooligan like most on here lol (mine's more of a daily).

April 2017 the road tax rules changed, so new vehicles under £40k list price were capped at £140 per year - with a lot of other "high" co2 output cars. Over £40k and it works differently (as per any facelift GT), I'm sure a quick search will give you all the answers.

I came from an E90 M3 and I enjoy my Mustang more.
The Mustang is not good on test drives as you're generally just poutling along, which it doesn't like. They need to be given the beans a bit before they come into their own, and make sure it's not on normal mode.
Dealers always seem to have autos as test drivers, not sure why

Do you get used to the size or does it still feel like you're driving a tank? How do you find manouvering, reverse park for example?
I'd also be buying as a daily so I'm just trying to weight up if the performance/fun outweighs some of the other possible frustrations.

It’s a big old beast but you do adjust to it. I use mine as a daily hack and no complaints. However it’s never going to be as nimble as an M2 or A3. It takes balls to hustle it on narrow twisty B roads with blind summits like in the Lake District.
Doors are huge so get used to parking in the far end of any car park or you’ll struggle to get in/out and face the almost inevitable damage from other car doors.
That said it’s a personal choice. To me it is a thing of absolute beauty. Compare it’s shape to the M2, A3, A class etc it’s in a different league. No amount of bodykit and stance will ever give a small family car the look or heritage of a purpose built coupe. Just my biased opinion...
But the public back that up, their reaction is fantastic from thumbs up, letting you out in traffic to chit chat at the fuel pumps.
Like a beautiful woman, you cant help but love it, despite its faults

Shame you didn't like it, as ive always said I think you have to 'really want' a Mustang before you even test drive one, it has a fair few compromises. I didn't like the AT box at all either, without wanting to trash it as i know others like it BUT i wouldn't have purchased a GT if it only came with that 10AT box. You are right though a manual isnt going to be enough to swing it,

When i had my M2, i was lent an M4 Competition and that was a similar uninspiring experience for me. Funny how people differ. Jumped back in my M2 and thought jesus this is so much better.

The M2 and M2C's and M3, M4's are in my opinion 'better' cars in most ways than the GT but ive always loved GT's and that V8 sound so for me I can live with the compromises as for me the GT has a unique character.

I do have an issue with the £45k-£50k price tag and the stupid 8% APR at the moment making it way more expensive on a PCP then an M2C which is at 2.9% and with options around £47k-£49k. If i hadnt of got my GT at 0% and £39k no way i would be paying what they want for a GT at the moment.

The Mustang is by far the biggest car ive owned, came from an M2, however I got accustomed very quickly, I also never felt the 'its a massive car' feeling that some seem to. To me it felt no bigger than an 4 series BMW or in fact a new Mazda 6 that my out laws have, in any way. I remember on the BMW forum M235/240i owners going on about how big the M2 was and how bad it was in city centres, strange people! Its a largish car its not a class 1 HGV although its weighs as much as one, thats a joke by the way.

Parking it clearly its not a Fiat 500 so that's really dependant on personal situation, i have a good sized driveway and a decent sized garage, parking bays at work are also okay so not a problem for me. If i had to park it in a tight multi storey NCP car park maybe not a good choice but my M2 was a nightmare in those as well.

it surprised me how quickly i got used to the size, within days it didn’t feel like a big car. I came from a 2011 ford fiesta so quite a jump! Manoeuvring is so easy IMO, the rear camera obviously helps, but visibility is v good and you can pretty much see where the front corners are from the drivers seat.
Guessing you’ve got your heart set on the GT? If not, do consider the ecoboost (i had one for 18 months), it’s the best of both worlds if you’re daily driving. Buying, insuring and running a GT can be a huge jump in costs depending on your circumstances.

This forum, like all forums, is full of like minded people who put their money where their mouth is and went out to live their dream. Like everything in life, if you really want something, you will forgive its shortcomings.

Yes there are faster cars, better built cars, cars with nicer interiors, but as an overall package for the price, if you want one, you won’t be disappointed.

Problem is it's shortcomings far outway it's plus points. the 6 pot brembro's were good.
My biggest corncern was trying to keep it straight at motorways speeds. forever correcting the steering made it very tiring on longer journeys.
if you want good brakes buy an s550 mustang.
That could well have been a simple alignment problem.

I think it depends on how much you like Mustang, contra just having a car to get you from A to B. After having had the car for 8 months now, I'm still loving every mile I drive and are happy every time I get in. Happy when I walk out of the gym/supermarket/whatever, and see that rare blue beauty waiting for me.
Matter of taste of course, but when I come out of whatever building, I might cast an on a shiny BMW M-series parked nearby, or a new Audi S-series, but to me they're just "less ugly" than the average car, and not something I'd care to spend a lot of money on, even though I'm sure technically they're at least as good, and most likely better, than my Mustang. If I couldn't get the Mustang, I'd probably just keep driving my 20 year old A3 until the transmission dies completely, and then get another similarly priced "A to B" vehicle.

I btw alternate between a small old and crappy Audi A3 and my Mustang GT for daily driving (if the kids behave, we take the Mustang to school. More often than not, it's the Audi these days. They complain, but not enough to change their own behaviour). Roads where I live are quite narrow, fitting the A3 much better, and parking spaces are small too. Of any country I've been in, Spain has the most stupidly designed supermarket parking buildings. In one I even got stuck with the Mustang. No matter what I did, it was impossible to position the car at an angle that would allow it to drive up and do the required sharp right turn to get into the parking building without the right side of the chassis bottoming out and getting stuck against the ground. After getting out to see wtf the problem was, I saw it was impossible due to the length of the GT and the sharp angle of the turn, but I don't fucking care and the only frustration I feel is towards the idiots who designed the parking, not my car. First thing I do when I get in the car is to lower the window so I can hear that V8 crank up as I push the start button. After 8 months, I still can't help smiling when I hear it rev up.

to be fair I think expectation has a lot to do with it, I was really excited about the Mustang, and probably built it up in my mind more than was fair. I was also really unimpressed with the M4CS, really expensive car and didn’t feel as good as my M3, not a patch on the M2C.

The great thing about the Mustang is it doesn't appeal to everyone.
After over 3 years of ownership I still love it - the looks and sound make it an emotional drive.

Way too many issues aswell with these cars. the issues thread here is frighning.
sloppy suspension.
sloppy steering..
very little torque.
driveline clunk.
bonnet flutter.
i got very tired of driving mine very quickly. no regrets selling it.
ask Dr grabster what he thinks.
I've never had any issues. You're clearly a bit of a drama queen so the Mustang is probably not for you.
Dr Grabster is just a troll who keeps lurking around even though he has apparently sold it.

100% agree. I wouldn’t thank you for an M2 or RS3. I recognise their ability, but to me theyre just a dull family hatchback with a big engine and a tacky bodykit. The ā€˜prestige’ brand doesn’t float my boat either. Just an excuse to pump up the retail price and service costs, all that crap about Audi RS technicians, he’s just a regular mechanic changing your oil like any other.

I’ll stick with my ā€˜chest wig’ Mustang thanks :)
