I might have moved over to the German brigade but I still have a soft spot for all things Mustang.
This months Hemmings mag popped thru the door, remembered this thread, and thought you might like this resto mod. I think we could build one substantially cheaper than Bill Shepherds retailā¦ Got...
This is great, I love peopleās enthusiasm for the Stang, but I think this is what separates an enthusiast from a fanatic (& I mean that in the nicest possible wayā¦)
I love all cars, Iāve worked developing them for 30 years, but at the end of the day, to me any car is just a chunk of metal and...
Well Iāve finally come off the fence and sold the Stang. (See farewell pic). I think Iāve just gone the journey with this car.
Cazoo made an offer I couldnāt refuse. Very easy to deal with and no āWBACā style nasty surprises - although the car was well cared for. Recommend them if your sellingā¦...
Totally understand you on that one. Iām fortunate enough to have a classic yank too. But to me a car needs a bit of character.
Have you you considered a resto-mod? Classic styling with modern running gear

I wouldnāt propose buying one at...
Donāt get me wrong, I still love the look, sound and dynamics of the Stang. You simply have to look back when you park it and walk away. Just after 3 years, Iām ready for something different.
Its a bit opportunist maybe, with the higher values of the Stang, but thatās offset by the price rise...
Just received this months Classic Cars mag. A fitting quote from a guy called Ed Winter whoās a Lotus wizard:
āPassion clouds judgementā
that certainly rings true with me. I just know a used Alfa QF will lead to all kinds of trouble, probable financial ruin, but I still really want oneā¦
A bit like this forum. A lot of owners love it so much they canāt see/accept the shortcomings, and a few rants too.
totally agree ref surveys. JD Power particularly, as itās about user expectation. If you buy a brand new Chinese MG and it starts every morning, you think itās the dogs. If you...
Fair point & certainly a worry, but the German brands donāt fair well in any reliability surveys. Theres a lot of urban myth and trading on past glories there. And when any premium brand does go wrong, the bills are horrific.
As for the Alfa dealer network, I have never ever faced ineptitude...
Funny, one reason I was considering the Alfa is now my kids are older they p*ss moan about riding in the back of the Stang, so 4 smaller doors works better me.
I didnāt find the Alfaās pillars an issue but Iām 5 11 tall, I can see if youāre tall & you have seat way back, that would be an issue...
* bump*
Well Iāve had itchy feet with my Stang for a while now, but thought Iād share my adventures with you.
Went to test drive an Alfa Giulia Quadrofoglio.
Always liked these, but disliked the high price tag and the worrying combo of feeble Italian build quality+high electrical...
well just to update anyone who stumbles across this thread with a flat battery, I checked the voltage āas removedā from the car, 3.9 volts. No harm in trying to charge it, so left it charging overnight, it was taking 3amps. After about 20 hours it was still at 11 volts, so itās toastā¦
a quick...
2016 GT
I think the original battery has expiredā¦
The battery is 5 years old and the cars not getting daily use since lockdown, work from home etc
Running fine, but next day it wouldnāt crank, but making all kinds of weird clicks (not the old school dead battery noise of a single clickā¦)
ESC...
sounds like youāve been quite unlucky there, Ive been buying parts from the US for classics for almost 20 years, and other than grumbles about import duty payments etc, theyāve mostly arrived OK. Good packaging is everythingā¦
that said at work we refer to DHL as Dropped, Hidden or Lost.
but I...
*Bump*
Just to update you all with the fantastic news that Ford have agreed to replace my corroded bonnet & both corroded front wings under warranty (2016 car)
this is despite the body inspection book having zero stamps (although full service history).
itās taken 3 months to gain their...
Iām not saying donāt flip the Stang as if itās gathering dust and you choose the wifeās car at weekends, itās no longer a big part of your life.
However all your alternative choices to me lack the 1 thing the Mustang has by the sack full, and thatās soul. Theyre all capable cars but hardly the...
Wait - so this car learns what fuel is in the tank?
How the heck does it do that?
I thought the ECU tune dictated such parameters, for example our friends across the pond have different software as they are on even lower octane. Of course once you remap thatās a different story.
with a stock...
kinda back on topic as Im struggling with corrosion, but Fords shoddy aftercare really doesnāt help, it just exacerbates your angst.
Their website is out of date, the 3 dealers above are not bodyshop Ford approved.
Even the half wits running Ford customer care hotline donāt know which dealers...
Wow thats gonna hurt Fords profit. Thats assuming you and others donāt cancel altogether...
Where I work, semi conductor products are on allocation, meaning they are diverted to the most profitable vehicles in the group, and build suspended for the less profitable ones.
Perhaps Ford do the same...
Not trying to stoke the fire here, but there seems to be something weird going on with Ford āapprovedā body shops.
Loads of Ford dealers near me, loads with body shops, all have advised me they are no longer Ford āapprovedā and therefore canāt do warranty (body) work .
So the biggest Uk brand...
