Purchased a new 2017 GT/CS and stumbled across this forum, now I've been researching every possible mod available. At this point I'm thinking about a Lund tune or Ford Power Pack 2 (to keep the warranty). I've owned nothing but sports cars my entire life and never had the urge to mod anything until I got this car. I had a magnaflow exhaust installed Friday and couldn't be happier with the results. Would I see much of a difference with a CAI and Lund tune vs the Ford Power Pack 2?

This will probably get moved to that subforum. But usually with new cars people say enjoy it for like..a year or two. Then mod it so you can be sure you feel/appreciate the increase in power. Then again if you've owned nothing but sports cars that are faster then by all means. Or do whatever you want!

IMO it would be hard to feel a difference going from 435 hp to like 455 with a tune. but I haven't gotten it yet so who knows!

Unfortunately my cars are daily drivers so I usually purchase a new one every 30-36 months (and take a beating). At 54 I've never had kids and have been in the same industry for 30+ years so this is one luxury I've been able to afford. Seriously I've owned everything from a 69 Javelin to a C6 Corvette. I'm really wanting to up the torque on the car a little bit to give it a little more "seat of the pants" feel in the lower to mid rpm range but I still want it to be drivable.

If you dump cars every three years than go PP2 keep your warranty. It will give you what your looking for.

Tuning these cars definitely wakes them up. They're a 25+ whp improvement, at least the good ones are. That's 465-470 at the crank. No issues with driveability, improved if anything. There is a good bump in torque from 2500 all the way up.

Get the CAI and the Lund tune. Yes you WILL feel the increase in power. For a better driving experience for not much $$$, get some lowering springs, K member brace and IRS braces (sub frame) and a different shifter if you have a 6spd. You'll love it!

A riposte;

I've rarely read anyone post about keeping it stock. Most people here start planning their mods before they even get their cars. Hell, I had floor mats and a tuner/tune done a week after I got mine.

As far as a CAI/tune (or just tune), you absolutely feel the increased power. Or, really, the better throttle response. The engine is just woken up, and it boarders on being violent. Just a canned Bama tune is all that is really necessary for waking the car up.

I myself am looking at a CAI to go with my Bama tune, as there does appear to be genuine HP/TQ increases to be had over just a tune.

you will feel a difference my PP dyno baseline was 36X tune only bumped it up to 38x. now add the CAI and Catback and its over 400. I had to put it back to stock tune and stock airbox for emissions and I had to work to try and get a third gear chirp on the stock p-zeros. I was beyond happy after I was able to put the tune and cai back on! mine was also a custom tune fyi

After doing way too much research I've narrowed it down to Lund or Livernois tunes and a CAI. So far the car has factory 3:55 gears, automatic, and magnaflow performance mufflers. What can I expect from a Lund or Livernois tune and either an Airraid or JLT intake? When I order one of the tunes this week can I specify that I want the car to be drivable and not shift like I'm trying to race everyone around me? I'd like the car to feel like it's in normal drive but have more get up and go.

I recommend AED or Lund for tuning. I'm in the Houston area if you ever have any questions, PM me, and I'll be glad to help out.
