I'm talking performance wise. It's not faster than a 1SS and I'm sure it's a better track performer if one really wants that option. Throw on bigger brakes, better tires on a 1SS and it'll be right behind it.

The ONLY Camaro that is impressive to me (Performance per dollar) is the 1SS. For $37900, it's pretty fast, light, can track with the best of them. I don't care for Camaro's in general but I can appreciate that it's pretty stout from factory.

Take a base GT with PP, throw on some real tires, tune, CAI and exhaust, it will be right on par with the SS.

It has PTM (Performance Traction Management) and it cannot be added in the aftermarket since it touches so many other systems when it is working.

As for a PP 'stang vs 1LE. I'd be happy to put my 1LE up to see. I'm in Orlando and run at Daytona, Sebring and PBIR.

My reasoning is, the biggest reason why the new Camaros are handling much better is because of the Alpha platform and 455/455. They also made the SS very track oriented with engine/tranny/diff oil cooling.

You can put the edif on the 5th Gen 1LE and do you think it will really make it that much faster around the track? I'm sure it's a combination of things but people are making this 1LE like it's the next best thing to an R. One reason why I do give the 1SS credit for having all the stuff it comes with it's def. a bang for your buck from factory. Add tires, lower it, handling components and it's right behind the 1lE.

But.. I'm in awe of straight line power anyways (One of the reason why I want a muscle car) and I bet you the 1LE is the same speed or even a half a car slower than the lighter 1SS. It's a track car so that's not a big deal though.

The GTPP, if it wasn't for insurance (young and speeding tics don't help) I would have gotten one. I'll probably end up getting a used GTPP, tune it, exhaust, CAI, lower it, get better tires and I'll be right with an SS in speed and close in handling. That way I can mess around and not worry too much about warranty.

solution put an ls motor and trans in your stang...best of both worlds!!!!

I totally agree! I have a 89 fox that i just finished putting and ls2 with a t56 in. Now im able to go to chevy and ford meets and piss everyone off.

Ford & Chevy go back an forth as history will prove. I build my pony for the road courses, and my curvy backroads and coastal hwy's. Suspension wise the maro has the edge, but modding is better for the stang. Modding is essential to my business.

The gap between these cars is less than a thousand dollars not including incentives(GM $1,000 cash incentive). The below numbers come from the build site for both cars.

GTPP MSRP - $36,565 w/destination
1SS MSRP - $37,295 w/destination

That is less than a $750 difference. Going to be REAL tough doing all that modding and not being way above the purchase price of a 1SS.

Too bad the Camaro isn't more aesthetically appealing though, price be damned I would still rather drive a GTPP.

I'm not disagreeing about the looks. My son and I took mine to the local Chevy dealer and compared the looks. The only one that compares is the 1LE, and it costs a minimum of $10k more than I paid for mine.

Eh, even the 1LE doesn't do it for me in the looks department. A base GT doesn't either, but with the more aggressive styling that bigger wheels and tires and ground effects add, I'm all in! Sadly(and I am a previous 5th Gen 1LE owner), the new 1LE makes me think "You can polish a terd, but its still a terd"....I mean that only in reference to looks as I think mechanically it is a great machine!

As I understand it, Chevy won't budge much on that price until late in the model year. Meanwhile, I got my 16 GTPP for $30,995 in april. $5,500 difference vs the MSRP. I didn't even seen any listed for over 34k at the time anyway.

Apparently the place to buy them is in Miami at Bomnin Chevy. They were supposedly doing 15 SS's for 10-11k off. This place in Johnson City TN has 5 or so

I guess maybe it varies by location or something? As I said in my post it was right off the build site. I wonder how that works, as I trust you are getting your #'s from somewhere reputable.

Either way, the $1,085 isn't nearly enough to cover the mods listed in the post I was quoting.
