265/35R20 on the front. 305/30R20 on the rear. As for tire brands?.... Continental DWS 06 Plus or the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s are good go to's

255 or 265 front, 285 rear. 305 is too big for a 10ā€ wheel, you won’t get any additional benefit from the wider tire because the wheel isn’t wide enough

return the wheels
Ya, might be a good idea to hit the pause button and think it all out.

Owners with 20" can chime in with their recommendations.

I cannot speak to 20s, but wide-wise, I think you might be able go wider on the front (10"). Offset-wise, I feel you could go deeper on the front (+35).

You might want to consider a square setup. Visually, it might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it'd be simpler in many ways. And allow you to rotate tires.

Functionality for me is #1. I want something that works well. Once I've got a good height/width/offset, then I can go shopping for something in my budget that I think looks good.

I can't see you being limited in any way, other than $. I'm sure you can find something.

I run 20x10 +35 all the way around on mine. 285/35r20 tires (Continental Extreme Contact Sport). Good ride, excellent grip and pretty flush. I do have Rokblokz to keep stuff from kicking up and hitting my paint, they work well.

I am on 20x9.5 and 20x10.5. With your wheel sizes I would personally go 255 front, 295 rear for max grip. You will have diminishing returns in terms of grip going wider than that, but you very well could go wider if you want.

you're assuming grip is correlated to width. Compound characteristics at STP, sidewall behavior, and shape of contact patch is rather more important...

285 an 8.5" front wheel? No won't fit. 285 is pinched badly on a 9" front with a /40 sidewall. You'll never get one on a 20x8.5 wheel with only /30 sidewall to work with. Specs say you'd need a 9.5" wheel at a minimum for a 285/30R20 tire. Somebody either has the wheel size incorrect or the tire size wrong.

Look, if you wanted to run wide tires, you would have been a lot better off getting wheels that were properly wide to put them on.

2" of stagger front to rear is not a great plan. Works on a corvette or porsche, but not with a car as front heavy as our cars. You want to run 285/305 tires? Get a 10"/11" staggered wheel setup instead.

It is correlated to width. All those things you listed matter too. A proper fitting tire will provide more grip than an identical tire that is either too wide or too slim.

I went 19x10 square with 285/35 Max perf summer tires. Huge improvement over the factory 20x9 wheels A/S tires.
