Car will not start. Sometimes.

Car turns on accessory but will not start. I get multiple alarms like collision system, traction control and etc come on but the car will not even click.

My experience would tell me that the battery is low. Well new battery put in and same indication.

Even on the old battery though the car would start with no issue. It is very intermittent but also inconvenient because I have no idea when it is going to happen.

It can't be the clutch interlock because I am getting all the alarms like it's a dead or low battery.

Anyone see this or hear of it before? Maybe the start switch in the console but that wouldn't cause all the alarms.

almost sounds like you have a loose ground somewhere.

i know there's a few grounds under the stock intake airbox, check those. else just look around heh.

I would agree. So I will have the car up in the air this week and will look underneath.

Guess I will start with around the headers as I recently went from manifolds to long tubes but I don't think it is around there either because it did it to me twice before the install. I have so much done to the car it is hard to tell where it is. I added some grounds and a new wire from the alternator to the battery so I will check those as well.

I wouldn't think a new added ground would cause this condition though.

Check here, seems most are finding this issue:

Not going to be that. Battery and terminals were replaced when I did all the stereo stuff plus I pull regular maintenance on my car.

I would check any grounds as well as the wires/connections to the ECM and BCM. Maybe a wire got pinched somewhere

O.k. time for an update.

So my Airide and my amps are hitting the battery as soon as the power is applied. This is causing a low voltage issue where the car doesn't want to start.

No loose grounds and no amperage draw with the car completely shutdown. I am only seeing .11 mA at shutdown.

Bought a variable relay delay box where the relay will not come on for 5 seconds after the car is turned on.

Well evolution #3.

Going 40mph and the car just shuts off. It goes into accessory power mode but will not restart. Thank God I wasn't going around a corner or anything.

It faults with

Steering Assist fault
ABS fault
Airbag fault
Traction control
Stability control

Hit the power button and nothing but will sometimes start. Getting ready to trade it in on a Camaro.

So it's not the clutch switch and not the battery again.

Car has died twice with no apparent action on my part.

Can someone help with the ignition switch part number? The actual switch please.

Where are your air ride and amps getting their ground and power from? If the ground are on the Battery post the you are defeating the Battery management system and the car is allowing the battery to go low and not start properly. The system monitor the current on the negative battery lead, If you connect directly to the post the system does not see the amp current . Same problem that the F150 has. Plenty of info on that forum Ford F150 .com

Air ride and Amps are all grounded in the back within 18 inches of the device.

The only thing added to the battery post is a ground from the case of the alternator directly to it.

I measured the amperage draw in an entire off condition. I was only getting 3 milliamps.

I have seen similar stories online.

What has me bothered more than anything is the car shutting off while moving. Only did it twice but that is not cool.

I wouldn't think a battery draw issue would cause the car to shut off like that.

Another note. The car is on a battery tender all the time. It is no longer my daily driver but I also haven't driven it much because of this issue.

I bought a Ford Escape as a daily.

Didn't see it mentioned, but were there any trouble-codes stored?

Zero DTCs. All kinds of warnings like blindspot, cross traffic alert, etc, etc.

That ground you put on, is bypassing the Battery current sense:
I would remove it and charge the battery then let the car sit for 8 hours to relearn the battery change state.
