I've decided to add a pair of subs and amp to my 400A and it looks like tapping into the rear speakers and using a LOC is the preferred method.
I happen to have an old Scosche FAI-3A laying around and I've found the wiring diagram for it.

My questions are:
Is tapping the (post amp?) wires going to the rear speakers the best option?
Will the LOC I mentioned give desirable results or should I shop for another?

Here's what I'm planning to use, and I'm open to recommendations for alternatives similarly priced (budgeted ~$500) since I have very little experience regarding the quality of this stuff.

Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D amp
Two Rockford Fosgate P2D2-10
4AWG OFC wire kit/150A fuse

Voice coils in series and subs to amp in parallel for 2ohm load. I picked the 1200 because the next model down (750) wouldn't make the speaker RMS on 2 ohms. I'd like to avoid any heat issues. I chose 10" subs for the size. I'd like to cram them behind the rear seats.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Check out the stero build and pictures of Klumpikat that she posted last week. Sorry I cannot point you to the specific post.

Thank you for the link. Very clean mounting.

I see you have the 401A so I expect my wiring will be a tad different if you used the wires from your stock sub.

I've decided against using a line out converter, opting instead to run the wires from the factory amp input harness since I expect I'll be re-wiring the factory speaker locations in the future.
Ah, I noticed after the fact you have 400A, so yes, I would imagine it would be a bit extra work. I paid someone to do mine; I don't know the first thing about this stuff, but you are already halfway there. ;)

I am very interested in seeing the results of your installation of the subs behind the rear seats.

I have the base stereo and I'd like to upgrade all the speakers to better units. I looked on Crutchfield because they are usually good at suggesting replacements that are OEM look but give better quality sound. I'd also like to add a sub in the trunk as well. Unfortunately Crutchfield has nothing for our cars! Everything says there's been no research yet on our cars. I don't get it.

Anyone have suggestions on what speakers I can get for the doors, a-pillar and rear deck? Also a decent sub and would I need an amp? I'm not looking to blow my doors off, I just want something that sounds crisp and clear. I like mostly Rock, 80-90's music and stuff from today but Ill also listen to classical so I want something that allows for that

To start, I very highly recommend looking into JL Audio, at least for amps and/or subs, the weakest part of the system, IMO. Not only do I have the brand in the stang, I had them in my Wrangler, too (obvs did not do a lot of highway driving; plastic windows are noisy;)). The system in my Wrangler sounded better than the stock 401A Shaker.
More info can be found at the link in the above posts if interested.
