Hi everyone,

So I have a couple questions about an aftermarket bov.

1. What is the benefit of an aftermarket one?
2. I am looking at a turbosmart one, is this one of the best?

I am looking to buy the map charge pipe kit and it includes the turbosmart bov so I figured it must be worth upgrading. Sorry if these questions have been answered before but Im new to turbo cars and figured no better people to ask then you guys!

The turbosmart is nice because it's a direct bolt on. Sound is subjective so you have to decide what you like. The benefit is that they are all metal and vacuum controlled versus electronically controlled. Both work fine, but the turbosmart one will be better quality and you won't have to worry about plastic valves going bad. Performance wise, there is no noticeable difference. It's not a hp part.

1. There's a few benefits, but the biggest two would probably be 1) eliminating boost leaking past the OE valve at higher boost pressures and 2) going to a fully mechanical valve. The factory valve opens some while cruising and will make the hissing noise everyone talks about. Going to a mechanical style eliminates that plus gives a better response and feel from the BOV.

2. I'd say to get the Tial Q (it is an option if you ask Adam). It's a rock solid and proven valve. The Turbosmart seems to work just fine too, but I've always used Tial valves without any problems or hiccups. Plus, I like the noise that it produces better than some of the other valves on the market.
