2020 GT w/4 piston calipers: I went to do some prep work for a brake pad change. Removed pads etc and noticed that the rubber seals (assuming they are seals) around the pistons are damaged. Some were in a few pieces that the piston cut into. Anyone else ever come across this? What should I do about it and what if I don't do anything about it?

Those dust boots are there to keep grime out of the pistons and prolong the life of the seals. If they’re torn up its not the wnd of the world, the car isn’t unsafe or anything.

Rebuild kits with new rubber boots are availible for many calipers. I haven’t looked for them for the base brakes.

I have a rear brake with a torn up boot which I should get around to replacing some day.
