Looking at getting some boost with in the next couple months and am very torn on which set up to go with? I currently have a 16gt with lt headers corsa cb pmas intake with lund tune. Goals for the set up would be 700hp ish willing to go e85. This is mainly a weekend car and just looking to have some fun on the streets. Any input and reasons to go with the setup you suggest would be awesome. Thanks!!

I'd highly recommend the Whipple as it will do 700whp easily with room to grow. Also the instant hit of torque on the streets is lots of fun. Hence why I went Whipple as well.

We have a full bolt on Twin turbo setup that will make 700 easily with room to grow. Another advantage of twin turbo is with the natural characteristic that allows more torque and low end power than a belt driven setup. By not having to use horsepower to turn a belt, we can send all of that power to the tires.

Also remember, belt driven superchargers make peak power usually only at the peak RPM of the engine, so a blower setup that is advertised as a 700 Hp setup, will only make marginal power at the more useful and driven RPM, say from 3500-5500. At these lower RPM levels, a turbo will crush any other power adder :headbang:

Please let us know if we can answer any questions!

Lots of choices, we love Whipple but many will make you happy. We can get you a custom setup with any power adder and all you'll need to do for tuning is pay the Lund upgrade fee.

Whipple will make 700 without sweating.

stock engine capability would go whipple.

here's my 91 pump gas 16 degrees 707/560 only revving to 7000 rpm

e85 map 20 degrees revs less than 7200 with conservative timing to both tunes.778/598

went back to the dyno 22 degrees more timing and 200 rpm made 804/609 @7400 rpm SAE

numbers are on 3.625 pulley 11.5-6 psi.

if you want more. go turbo.

I have had my 2.8L liquid cooled Kenne Bell for over a year now with about 8k miles, stock engine and no problems. I kept with the Kenne Bell tune that came with it and its is great, I drive my car a lot so I wanted something that was reliable and easy to drive and this was the ticket. It gets about 650 to the wheel and my tires (305 MT) can't handle it so any more is useless for the street in my opinion. Not a lot of KB folks on this forum but the ones that have it love it. Just another option.

We love the Whipple here at Lethal! We ran the 2.9L Whipple on our 2015 Performance Pack GT with the ID Injectors and a custom tune from Lund Racing and made some crazy power on the stock engine. Shoot me a PM or give us a call at 561-753-8105 and I would be glad to help you out with any questions you might have on the kit and pricing!

My .02 cents wait for the Gen 4 Whipple to be announced as well as the VMP Gen 3 supercharger system using the TVS2650 rotors. Whipple announcement is expected mid September and VMP hopefully before the end of the year.

Luckily for us there is a lot of options out there, and you can find people who love each one.

I was gonna go Whipple and ended up PC. Many supporters on all platforms, depending on your gear ratio, I hear the roots style gets choppy (3.73) . I would go with SC over Turbo if you wat to retain the lt headers you paid a pretty penny for and spent a year installing lol

That's great in theory, the issue becomes traction on street tires lol, can't keep traction through 3rd NA , much less FI  I tease, but seriously, I don't run around with slicks on my DD

Boostworks twin kit great quality and price
Nitto 555r great DD tire for traction
Cortex boost controller for boost by gear/rpm to maximize traction.

Just my opinion. Good luck :headbang::headbang:

You say at lower rpm leves it will crush any other power adder, but how does turbo compare to a Pd ? I know psi per psi turbo will beat it but a pd at 700whp or turbo at 700whp how do they compare?

I bounced all over the place between procharger, paxton, whipple and turbo. I ended up going with the paxton since it was cheaper and I could get it within two weeks. The whipple is a better looking kit and it makes good power down low but my car runs great with the paxton and stock stall. If I were to do it again i would go with low mount turbo due tothe potential of the turbo. If you count the cost you can recoupe from selling headers it is not much different. If you never plan to build an engine and are not addicted to speed like me go whipple with whipple tune.

The big reason I suggested the Whipple was that the OP wanted something for a fun street car. The Whipple gives that kick in the seat that is fun everyday and at every light.

There's no question that turbos make more power at a given boost level but there will always be a small amount of lag when the throttle is nailed. Once spooled up they are a blast!

Truly the OP won't be let down by any choice here. There are no bad choices! The Coyote breathes so well that any power adder can make a ton of power very easily and reliably.
